Apologies to @Zoomnbyu, I forgot about this until yesterday. Don’t recall seeing anything posted about it on Wednesday so perhaps I’m not alone. My pick for preseason game 3 is in, even before I’m on the clock, in the first reply below.

Maybe we can have a discussion thread each week for tasting notes and discussion.

Found this at my local VA state store today. It’s been a go-to in the recent past but I’d let myself run out so it’s an easy choice.

Discovered pretty much everything else I have on the shelf at the moment is above that ceiling for preseason games. Can’t wait for opening day!

I keep Stagg around for either the really good or the really bad times.

Jefferson's has been a go-to for me of late, especially the Tropics label.

Jefferson is good. They do a good job when they put out a small batch. I'm willing to try any bourbon once because you never know.

I normally stick with Ireland (Redbreast) and Scotland (Lagavulin or Balvenie) at home for most game occasions. The French and British are not welcome and definitely not the Germans.

interestingly Balvenie I too enjoy but Lagavulin not at all. never tried Redbreast. will add it to my list. thank you

No apologies needed, thank you for following up. Normally a Noah's Mill guy but going with Chestnut Farms B-I-B today.

I don’t always drink during games

But if I did, it would be Jim Bean (because I’m broke)

I remember when 4 Roses was paper bag whisky.

Count me in on the Red Breast selection, one of my faves and good value - prefer the 12 to the 15.

If you see it, Nikka Whiskey from the Barrel is really nice - it's a blend though, not a single malt.

Single malts from Scotland I prefer the "Rich Delicate" quadrant in the Whisky Chart, Balvenie Double Wood is a great one, most Macallan offerings are in there.

Actually lately I have really enjoyed Costco’s Kirkland 12 year old blend. $60 or so for a handle.

Costco has good spirits.

Anejo Tequila for $20 is a hell of a deal. The Reposado even cost less and is great.

Of course to be fair I have a bottle of 4 roses.

@maust I thought you might want to see what everyone else says.

I'm a cheap drunk and can't really concentrate on the action if I drink during the game. A drink or two afterwards to celebrate or drown the sorrows, on the other hand...

BTW, I used to like Blanton when it was available and not prohibitively expensive. Any suggestions for a similar experience, available and affordable?

+1 on Macallan 12 Sherry Oak.

Mac Allan is just a bit sweet for me
