Sadly we still need Lowe for our own depth a 5th isn't enough and no one's offering that anyway. Can we be the ones to give up a 5th and get a better back up lol.

Unless they initiate or receive an offer they really like, the Chargers will likely have to wait for Cut-Down Day to find somebody decent, although they could also sign one of the free-agent OTs still available such as Jedrick Wills (if he's physically & mentally healthy), George Fant et al... Looks like it's either move Salyer from LG to LT again and Zion Johnson becomes the starting LG, or perhaps even move Alt to his more-natural LT position from RT and have maybe Trey Pipkins who kinda sucks replace him at RT...

Slater carted off, just signed record deal last week as LT for Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers star left tackle Rashawn Slater was carted off the practice field Thursday after suffering an apparent left leg injury.

Slater, who became the highest paid offensive lineman in NFL history when he signed a four-year extension a week ago, threw his helmet as the cart left the field. The cart came to a stop near the entrance to The Bolt, the Chargers’ facility. Slater slammed his hand on the cart and buried his head in his hands. A trainer put a towel over his head before two trainers helped Slater inside. Slater could not put any weight on his left leg.
On the play, Slater was aligned at left tackle in a modified 11-on-11 period. There were only three offensive linemen at the line of scrimmage. As quarterback Justin Herbert took the snap, Slater dropped into his pass protection set. A player appeared to fall into his left leg, and Slater went down.
Trainers worked on Slater for two minutes, and the cart came out almost immediately thereafter. As Slater was helped onto the cart, teammates gathered to console him.

I was listening to NFL radio, most likely move is to move Alt from RT to LT.

As we all know, they aren't finding a decent LT option after cutdown day.

Maybe dislocating a pinky will fix Anthony Richardson's inability to read a defense or throw accurately?
Considering he was hurt by failing to read a defense and take the hot read to the RB I think we know the answer to that. TOTAL BUST but many saw that coming when he was drafted.

As a starter, no. One of those already in the building will take the starting LT spot. Looks like it's gonna be Alt who moves.

As a backup however, there Will be players available better than whom they're likely projecting for that role now, especially if Salyer stays inside... Heck there Definitely will be better options at backup LT (Right Tackle too probably) available on Cut-Down Day than what WE currently have here ourselves, unless one feels that our own Craptastic Four - VD Low, DT Jacobs, Wallace & Jellybean Bryant - are all we'll ever need...

LT is such a premium position, and is so barren of decent players. Once a starter goes down, the options to find a competent backup are incredible difficult. If a team has a LT that has any shred of ability, those guys usually stick on the roster. So yes, there will be OTs that get cut, but they will be bottom of the barrel scrubs, as teams simply don't cut capable LTs. Or backups are terrible for sure, but they know the coaches and the scheme, so unfortunately they may be the best backup options we have. If the Chargers do pickup an OT after cutdown, dude will be a bum.
