Running = long drives = game ends faster. I don't expect the Lions will score as much as they have been this season, regardless of who wins.
So you think the Under?

At the same time the DET D sucks ass, and despite the Pats O being anemic, DET could allow >25 pts. even with Zappe.

Lions faced: Allowed PPG / Score
PHI: 17.8 / 35
WAS: 26.8 / 36
MIN: 20.0 / 24
SEA: 28.8 / 45
AVG: 23.4 / 35
PATS: 24.5 / (36?)

DET averages 11.6 ppg more than opponent allows. Their O is pretty balanced with 7 rushing TDs and 11 passing TDs.

Pats faced: Allowed PPG / Score
MIA: 22.8 / 7
PIT: 22.5 / 17
BAL: 25.0 / 26
GB: 17.3 / 17
AVG: 21.9 / 16.8
DET: 35.3 / (30??)

NEP averages 5.1 ppg less than opponent allows. We have 5 rushing TDs and 3 passing TDs.

I think Pats win this by <3 pts (DET only team 4-0 ATS) mainly because Belichick >> Campbell. Although curiously, Campbell is 1-0 against Bill.

I predicted 23-20 Patriots, but that's pretty close to the over/under number so it's hard to be confident in that. I guess that's why they picked that number.

Do we know if Guy and Mills are likely to play? Key pieces against the run and pass.

They need to keep Jack Jones on the field when Mills returns though…

Victor (what an ironically inappropriate name!) Kiam wanted to win. He really did.

He had Flutie right in his hands. Got rid of Eason. Check. Got rid of Berry. Check.

Doug sat around doing nothing for six months before he finally gave up and went to Canada to play for peanuts.

Maybe if Kiam spent less time conniving with Billy to retain control. But you're right, what a sh*tshow. Rust, Olson, Millen.

Red facemasks are pretty cool, though.

Dude, just take a glance at the twenty year stretches of utter futility almost all the other teams belched up, and our hard times are put in perspective. We even had some decent wins sprinkled in that 90-92 trudge, not bad considering we had no quarterback.

I remember sitting there with the stadium less than half full and Kiam was on the field for a halftime ceremony of some sort, might've been honoring John Hannah. Every time Kiam approached the microphone he was drowned out by boos.

However you want to parse it, those red unis are synonymous with losing. I don't remember anyone back then boasting how great they looked. The Sullivans were drunk when they chose British Army red instead of American patriot blue. Even Phil Bissell was aghast.

Mike Reiss posted that Guy is out. It is in this thread on the last page.

Agreed but the Flying Elvis sucks. Not uncommon to buy a business and head in a new direction. But the new uniforms, as part of the new direction, were a fail.

The main thing that HAD to change was from red to blue. If you're going to adopt a "colonial patriot" theme, you don't use the enemy's iconic uniform color. I would've been OK keeping Pat Patriot with blue jerseys but I also like Flying Elvis -- the latter's legacy confirmed by six league titles.

Thankfully for us, Dan Campbell knows X’s and O’s like I know where the Lindbergh baby is.

Egg head will screw it up. Pats win

Campbell can strategize game plans like I can track down bigfoot

For those of you sh*tting on Bill for drafting Zappe in the 4th round, eat crow. Sure, we had Stidham but he sucks & I'm glad he got shipped out. I'm higher on Zappe than most and expect the kid to surprise everyone tomorrow. He'll be the talk of the NFL the entire week, displacing Cooper Rush as the 2022 back-up QB phenom and the new wunderkind.

Kiam and the last years of Pat Patriot were really bad years, a lot of losing.

But recently when I mentioned Stanley Morgan deserving the HOF, someone said on Twitter that the reason Morgan isn't in is that he played on so many losing teams.

I went back and looked.

Many people might be surprised to learn that Morgan played on only one losing team in his first 12 years with the Patriots. That was the Earhardt year when the Patriots were the most snakebitten team in NFL history (by that, I mean, they found ways to lose in the most improbable circumstances, losing a great many games by one score). Anyway, Stanley Morgan really didn't know losing in those 12 years in New England. Chuck Fairbanks, Ron Meyer, Ray Berry were his coaches. All 3 had winning records.

Were the Pats beaten out by the Bills for a blue-centric uniform? Would explain the red. Also, looking forward - Colts were blue/white as well.

It shouldn't matter what other teams were doing, the Patriots had historical and thematic cause for going blue from the outset. Besides, I think Buffalo was royal blue; there are different shades.

I know it isn’t apples to apples, but the Pats are really not missing JC Jackson all that much this season.

I'm glad JC got paid, but 'I'd enjoy it if the law of averages evens out and he goes on an interception drought the rest of his career.

I want to see him run one in. He doesn't know how to do the Griddy, but he does know how to Sheik Yerbouti.
Zappe isn't one to show boat, take fake dives, or cry on the side lines. That's why I like him. Kid has grit.
