Definitely worth noting. The Patriots' O frequently looked out of sorts to start the season. As time goes by it appears to be getting in better sync and becoming the potent O we are all accustomed to (we of the spoiled fan base ).
If the D can just bring it together, bring it up to a consistently 'just ok' level? From a complimentary football perspective the Patriots will again be ready to make a run at the SB (with injuries unfortunately always being the wildcard).
For anyone who says "the Patriots can't go anywhere with this D", 2011's one WW dropped pass says hi.
Worth noting that the 2011 team faced fairly mediocre offenses in the playoffs and almost blew the AFCCG and did blow the Super Bowl (with an assist from Welker). There’s no way they’d be that close to a title if they had to face high octane offenses like this year’s Pats will likely see.
Teams that can’t play D will have a tough time winning a Super Bowl probably having to play some combination of KC, New Orleans, the Rams. We’ve seen the Jaguars and Lions light up the Pats D, I don’t have much confidence that they can hold Baltimore or the Chargers let alone elite units. Can they? Sure, strange things can happen in the playoffs. But this D has so little talent and depth at key positions that winning multiple shootouts in the playoffs means the offense has to be perfect. And we’ve seen that this offense is never perfect for 60 (or even 45) minutes in the playoffs.
