He is a professional football player. He was healthy. He has helped in the past so of course he “could” have helped.

You are free to say this forever. However, IMHO, Rowe played a fine game. The matchups were great, once Gilmore was moved. But, yes, I would think that Butler was a better #4 corner to bring in than Bademosi.

Rowe being in and Butler being out pushed Bademosi and Richards further up the depth chart, where they clearly didn’t have the skill and it showed. Bademosi gave up a key third down leading to points in the 3rd, as did Richards on the wheel route to Clement.

And what would you expect from Bademosi and Richards but shoddy execution? Bademosi was not part of a game plan for quite some time, inactive vs the Titans and had some snaps at ST in AFCCG. And then you put him in the slot and expect to chase Agholor all over the field. Butler played 100% snaps in AFCCG. And then you assign him some snaps at ST. A cunning plan, indeed.

First of all Butler played only one snap on ST and this was after M. Flowers was down after a ST play. So he was really just an injury emergency player.

Second of all, Bademosi played good enough except for that one tackle that he is now infamous for. And this was a play he makes 8-9 times out of 10 otherwise he would be unemployed and not a ST player. Again please anyone show me some bigger schematic issues that turned up.

The only thing I can think of was the Richards wheel route which is like a wombo combo of suck. The wheel seems to always kill us no matter how athletically talented our LB is (eg. Collins vs. Lynch) and Richards simply sucks as a player. But guess what he played only 20% of snaps yesterday which is exactly his season average. He would have gotten those snaps either way even if Butler was on the field because for whatever reason the coaching staff thinks he helps the team more than M. Flowers.

Richards was not higher up the depth chart. He played exactly the same amount of snaps (20%) as is his average throughout the season (~25%). Everyone keeps bringing Richards up but he had nothing at all to do with the Butler situation. He sucks and should not play any snaps but that is a different story alltogether.

Bademosi had exactly one bad play: a missed tackle he makes 90% of the time otherwise he would lose his ST job.

Butler on Agholor

I mean, I don’t get paid a dime to coach in the NFL and even I knew these were there best possible matchups.

I don’t know about Brady or Kraft but he was certainly mad enough at Butler for whatever reason. At the end of the day Brady built on his legacy today and Bill watered his down.

He’s already said he’d have preferred butler played but it was fundamentals that was the problem not preparation of the substitute players.

Rowe gave up two key third downs on the first two Eagle drives, allowing them to continue and come away with points, including the long TD to Jeffrey, which he also gave up.

Bademosi gave up a key 3rd down in the third quarter because he couldn’t tackle, allowing the Eagles to subsequently tack on an important field goal.

Richards got beat bad by Clement on another key 3rd down after biting hard on a wheel route, also allowing the Eagles to put points on the board.

Telling me Malcom Butler doesn’t make at least one of those plays is absurd and was clearly the diffrenece between a Super Bowl won and a loss.
