Obviously it's not a " Must win" in the literal sense. But do you fear the season could be in jeopardy with a loss @ NO?

Keep in mind that Hou, TB, Carolina are up next. They'd have to go on a big win streak.

I don't put any stock into what happened in 01,03,2014. That said, I also don't put any stock into what occured in 09 @ NO.

I think so. I don't have the stats in front of me...but starting 0-2 does you no favors in your pursuit of the post-season.

Why? Sure we'd like to go 13-3 or 12-4, but that isn't necessary to win the SB or even to be in great shape to be the favorite to win.

4-4 at the break or even 3-5 and the team would still be almost a lock to win the division. 10-6 should be more than plenty.

Also, the team will have players coming back. Finally, the offense and defense will gel a lot more as the season progresses.

Keep in mind that Hou, TB, Carolina are up next. They'd have to go on a big win streak.

If our division was tough I'd say we'd be in a bit of trouble, but I fully expect us to go 6-0 or at worst 5-1 against our division opponents. Going 0-2 would hurt in the home field advantage race though.

As someone said wining our division is job 1 cause that gets you in the playoffs, then winning home field cause that gives you better odds to go to SB and then win playoff games. Would a win quiet the doubters, yes but ultimately we have to keep or focus on whats important. In the scope of the season is this is a road game vs a non afc opponent. That said we need some confidence.

Going 0-2, Is the season in jeopardy?

Nobody else will admit it but if the Patriots lose on Sunday the season is over but at least I have some good incest porn recommendations from Ted Cruz to ease the pain.

This may be the oddest post I've seen on here, and that's saying a lot for a forum that has Off The Grid posting on it!

My dream 2017 season:

Patriots start off 0-5. No team has ever made the playoffs going 0-5. Brady's and Belichick's "Mission Impossible"!!!

Then they win ELEVEN STRAIGHT EFFIN' GAMES.

Pats eke out the #2 seed on tie-breakers... which they could do based on the early schedule...

...they win the Division game at home, win the AFCCG on the road...

...IN KANSAS CITY... ...and go on to grab Lombardi #6.

Imagine it! It'd be like the SEASON version of coming back from 28-3!

Only one teensy downside... 5 weeks of...

...Chicken Littles on the rampage. LOL

Like this team in this division couldn't make the playoffs after an 0-2 start

It's silly to argue that our season is done if we start 0-2. But starting the season with back-to-back losses would be dramatic for this franchise, considering Brady and Belichick (since 2001) have never started the season 0-2 or been under .500 at any point in the season.

Mike Reiss does a great job explaining why avoiding 0-2 is seemingly more of a concern for the Patriots, than most others teams around the league

Bill Belichick sets tone as Patriots look to avoid first 0-2 start since 2001

"If they don’t [win] Sunday in New Orleans, one of the more impressive early-season marks in the NFL will be in jeopardy of ending.

The Patriots haven’t started a season 0-2 since 2001, which was when Drew Bledsoe was still the team’s starting quarterback. Only the Denver Broncos have a longer active streak of seasons without an 0-2 start (since 1999). So it’s no surprise that the urgency is rising at Patriots headquarters, with the team’s fourth-quarter fade against the Chiefs a point of emphasis.

In addition to attempting to avoid an 0-2 start for the first time since 2001, the Patriots are also hoping to avoid falling two games below .500 at any point in any season since they were 1-3 on Oct. 13, 2001. At that point, quarterback Tom Brady had only two career NFL starts and Belichick had just completed his 100th game as an NFL head coach."

Also, found this pretty amusing. Reiss lists all the things from the last time (5,812 days ago) the Patriots were two games below .500 in a season. Here are just a couple that stood out:
  • The Red Sox hadn't won a World Series since 1918.
  • Jim O’Brien was the head coach of the Boston Celtics.
  • The average price of gas was $1.31 per gallon.

We're basically mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, so stepmom incest porn is all I have left of value in this world.

if it means threads like this die? then yeah

in the real world...hell no

Season isn't over with a loss. SB chances? In the toilet waiting to be flushed.

That's what the posters I now call reverse trolls can't fathom. Such as some in this thread.
