Guregian: Would a Patriots Super Bowl win make Rob Gronkowski expendable?

(Via BH Sports)

My opinion: no.

Actually...

...HELL, no.

No b/c a healthy Gronk improves the team's chances to win SB 52

If Gronk leaves it'll be because of injury, age, production or salary squabble.

While we all wonder about it, I highly doubt he'd fetch a king's ransom in draft picks which might justify trading him.

Hes more valuable to the team here. Period. End of story

Yup, Gronk would be a key to #6. If they didn't win it would just highlight his importance in the ongoing Drive for Five.

Gronk probably isn't expendable, but has an affordable contract and is the best player at his position. If someone paid a ridiculously high price, I'm sure Bill would trade him. But no, I doubt Gronk goes anywhere and that's fine by me.

I do not believe so, we lack a possible major wrinkle we could have w/ a 2TE set w/ gronk available

also if a rash to WR injuries happens, he could make up for it

TEs are relatively cheap, much better value to have the #1 TE in the game than the #1 WR

Healthy and Gronk in a Sentence not started with "IF"??? Let's just say whatever Gronk is listed for on the Books is what he'll get but I don't see an Extension pass that. I think TE will is a NEED Position in the upcoming Draft and we will Draft one early. Also the Pats could extend Bennett who has let it all hang out injured and all. Gronk Inc watch out Pats have a winning record without Gronkey Kong.

Um, no. Jeez you figure with the, you know, Super Bowl coming up you would have to fish for storylines like this.

healthy gronk is too valuable

looking at his contract....you have to keep him next year and then reevaluate

Obvious answer: no, he is NOT expendable. Great player under great contract terms (for the team at least).

Why should we even entertain such non sense?

On second thought, Jamie Collins was apparently expendable and I was the last one to that party so what do I know?

Only if Gronk had a head ache for a contract which he doesn't. He's injury prone, just have to keep fingers crossed. I would not want to face any team with him.

Marty still needs to be signed too

Remember how the Patriots won Super Bowl 38 with no running game, and then traded for one of the best running backs in the league who in 2004 put up the best individual reason by a RB since I've been following the team (from 1985)?

This is the same question. The same stupid question when the guy is on an affordable contract.

By definition yes cause he was expendable to win this year but do i look to trade him? No. Not unless someone pays a lot for him.

Let's put it this way.

If Matt Ryan was available, a majority of the teams out there would snatch him up because he could make their team better.

If Gronk was available, even with his history, there are 32 teams out there that would get better.

Naturally it depends on his Contract, but if you took his existing, fairly friendly, contracts...the above statement gets even better..

Gronk only gets paid under 10 million a year. Gronk is arguably the best offensive non-QB player in the NFL. And he only gets paid under 10 million a year.

unless someone is willing to offer the next 6 years first round picks, second round and a HOFR running back... i would then think about it
