Said it on the CBS Pre Game.

That sucks, but let's keep in mind that it's not like it's 20 lbs of pure muscle that he lost.

Geez, 20 pounds is a lot. Hopefully he was able to gain some of it back over the last couple weeks.

Well I assume he's put most of that weight back on.

Strep throat? I was leaning towards Swine flu. its been going around this fall.

Damn, Collins is a man. He survived Captain Trips!

Of that 20 lbs I would guess 10 is water and 5-6 was fat. No doubt he lost some muscle laying in bed but he should be able to bounce back well in time. Might not want to expect too much today though.

A few things:
  • An infection? It was a lot closer to MRSA than people gave it credit for.
  • He lost 20LBs in a few weeks. How do I get this infection?

Must have been some nasty cooz.

I think this was a Letterman joke. Read in the tabloids, "lose 20 pounds without diet or exercise" pretty much leaves disease, doesn't it?

You mean to tell me it was not a virus as reported by the Patriots???

I lost 47 pounds in 70 days. (sadly I've gained 20 of it back and I was hoping to keep it around 8).

And you lose it pretty much the way you do when sick, just stop eating (though if you go extreme like I did, best to have a doctor monitoring your progress). I need to get back to losing those 12 pounds and I pretty pissed at myself for being weak and eating poorly lately...though there was a reason I was overweight to begin with.

I would expect some muscle loss for Collins, but probably half of it was water weight too.

I hope he gained that back, otherwise we might have to shift him back to Safety!

i doubt he's gained all of it back. it will take some time.

Yeah, I lost 34lbs in 3 weeks after I had a heart attack. Most was water wright, but also lost a lot from reduced caloric intake. Just didn't have much of an appetite.

It's not the sort of weight-loss program I'd recommend to others, though.

If it was strep, I can see the weight loss. Our older son had the flu and then strep a few years ago. The strep knocked him down for a week and he was out of work for 2 weeks. He couldn't eat, sleep, etc.
