I just saw yesterday's First Take where they had Jerome Bettis on there. This happened before the whole "11 of 12 balls were deflated" came out, but I found it hilarious how even AFTER Stephen A Smith told him that Spygate was basically overblown and was related specifically to the location of cameras...Bettis continued to call it "cheating" and referred to the Patriots as "known felons". I couldn't stop thinking about how Bettis played under Bill Cowher, who's said himself that they used the same tactics along with dozens of other teams.

The First Take this morning is totally different though. Now Stephen A Smith is claiming Belichick should be suspended for a year IF true. I normally like the show but this "investigation" is nowhere NEAR complete and they're already jumping to crazy conclusions. I know it's somewhat part of their job, but still.

Forgive me for the dumb question (English not my native language), but what does PR stand for?!
Public relations? That's the best I could come up with.

Yes. It doesn't mean punt return here.

Correct

Who stops you from it? I dont care and I cant stand this *****ing and moaning about how the media/BB/Kraft/?? ruined the week for anyone. If you want to talk Seattle, matchups or strategy there are enough threads and articles that deal with that on this very forum.

Nobody is forcing you to keep posting in here. And yet we are way past 1000 posts.

Because I'm obsessed with the NFL, I watch it religiously and is my favorite time of year. Nfl network, espn, Comcast sports, HBO etc, in watch and read it all..

And now I can't do any of that without this being shoved in my face. I don't get why some people are having such a difficult time grasping why this would be frustrating and upsetting for fans of the team... mind blowing.

If they needed a trial balloon to gauge the public's response, they're even more tone deaf than I thought.

This is a legit concern because initially the talking heads over spygate were talking about loss of a 3rd or 4th, as what happened to the Broncos. When everything amped up, that's when the NFL came down hard.

I'm listening to Francesa on the fan right now. First uses " I thought this would go away yesterday". Yeah right, he harped on it all day long yesterday. Now he's going off saying that the colts should get a first round pick from the US, the owner should come down on Bellichick,. What a **** he is. he has such an agenda. Work in the New York fan base into a frothy foam. I wish him unwell

I honestly don't believe Belichick had any involvement with this at all. It may be that an equipment guy knows how Brady likes the footballs and tries to get them to that point every week but I don't think Belichick, Brady, or anyone with any real authority was behind this.

The truth IMO is that it is absolutely ridiculous that the NFL followed Manning's demand that teams be allowed to adapt their own game balls, teams should have no say in the matter, the balls should be tended by NFL personnel and no one from any team should be given access to them other than The QB throwing them in the sideline.

The NFL is a passing league. It's entertainment.

51 degrees is not cold enough to deflate the ball by that much air pressure in that time period. I'm not disagreeing that the ball may not have lost pressure going from indoor temp to outdoor, it could have, but I doubt it lost 2 lbs. I have a basketball that's been on my back porch for a couple days now, it's no more deflated than it was before. It's been about in the mid 40s - 55 in temperature in my town.

Not that I'm an expert, but the difference between this clip and this situation is quite drastic for the current discussion.

They use a ball inflated to the max allowed and have it sit for a shorter period of time. 13.5 to 11PSI over one hour.

In our case, they were presumably filled to 12.5 and found at 11 roughly 3 and a half hours later. Thats a very long period of time when compared to that used by Sports Science. I however have no clue if that is enough time to make up for the difference at the warmer temperatures or if the ball could possibly even deflate as much in 40-50 degree temperatures. Though, I do assume it is possible with the in game beating it takes.

They possibly did the same thing vikings and titans did...put the balls in front of the heated benches

Mike francesa has always been a pats hater.I want this to be over already.

The only way I can feel good about this is by blowing out the seahawks in impressive fashion

The NFL is really in a no win situation here. I honestly believe they're better off saying there was no foul play, or else this will really get ugly.

If they come out and say the Patriots are guilty, there's going to be an unprecedented uproar of anger, bigger than the Ray Rice fiasco, which is too absurd to even think about. Articles, reporters condemning the NFL, demanding the Pats be removed, disqualified, etc., etc., etc, which we know will not happen whatsoever.

But if they come out and say there was nothing trickery going on, some people will still cry wolf, haters will still hate, but you cool off the situation and defuse it big time, meanwhile, you gain a record amount of interested viewers hoping to see the Pats lose and get the story back on what's most important: the Super Bowl.

This doesn't look good, but I can't see how the NFL can win if they don't side with the Pats.

Wouldn't that slow the rate of deflation as we're questioning if the COLD air did it?

Also, do they really bust out the heaters for games like this?

So what do you call it when a rule says "No one shall alter the balls in any way after they have been submitted to the officials" and then someone alters the balls after they have been submitted to officials?

So what happened to them? Nobody knows. Why has the "cheating" narrative been added to this from the beginning, and why are we talking about disciplinary action before anyone knows what happened? Are the Patriots being investigated or is `what happened to the balls` being investigated? There is a huge difference. Nobody even knows what happened yet, but the story has already been written.

Why the hell would Belichick send someone to sneak into a room and deflate balls when we were playing against a team the Patriots have annihilated in ways that weren't even competitive? Is Belichick a complete moron? We had Indianapolis AT HOME, and Indianapolis hasn't even been competitive against us in their own stadium. WTF would the motive for this even be? Talk about maximum over-the-top risk for minimum reward. I'm sorry, but I don't believe Bill Belichick is a pathological moron.

Not a problem, they can give the Colts their first and just use the one they get from the Jets for tampering with Revis.
