What new player do you really hope hits it big?

First one I thought of was Ballard. Take some of the sting from losing AHern.

Michael Buchanan

He got no respect in the draft and seems ready for the NFL

I hope he first makes the roster and then into a regular role on defense

Mike has been my binky since the draft and I still feel the same,he'll make the 53 or PS at worst

He was pegged as a first round pick prior to his jaw getting broken and him losing all that weight and strength

Doubt he'll contribute this year and he'll just be bulking & learning. I'll be excited about him next year though!

Do I want to catch a lot of fish or really big fish?
I want to catch a lot of really big fish!

I want ALL to succeed!

Kenbrell Thompkins and I want him to have a long and successful career to silence the haters who think because somebody has a past, they are destined to fail...

How about anyone who can catch a pass?

Why settle for "or"? I prefer "and." :D

Nicely said. Those are 2 exciting front-7 additions, right after last year's 2 exciting front-7 additions. Intriguing potential for sure.

Adrian Wilson. It's been too bad for too long in the back.

This was going to be my choice too. We always seem to have one or two UDFA that surprise and make contributions each year, and WR is the position that could use the biggest surprise.

Aside from him, Adrian Wilson. It's been too long since we've had a physical, veteran leader at the safety position. That has the potential to change the secondary completely.

Interesting that Buchanan is getting a few nods here; an intriguing prospect.

For true new guys I'll go Dobson and Collins, because of their potential to add a new dimension on each side of the ball. They're rookies so I don't expect them to "hit it big," but it would be awesome if they did.

I'd also create a category for quasi-newcomers, two guys who have been on the team for a couple of years but been kind of out of the picture: Vereen and Dowling. I think both truly have the potential to "hit it big" this year.

Edit: By the way, I assume folks here who are saying "everyone but Tebow" mean that only in the sense that something bad would have to happen to Brady for Tebow to rise. We DEFINITELY don't want that!

I'll take Collins and Wilson. Provided the defense stays somewhat healthy, those 2 would be the final two pieces it needs to become a championship caliber defense again. After spending the last 7 years as an offensive juggernaut I wouldn't mind defense becoming a or the strength again.

Of all the new players - free agents, draftees, UDFAs, trades - who do you most want to succeed big-time in 2013? For me, it comes down to the following people:

- WR Dobson - I think he has the potential to be a special talent, and I'd love to see him, at his size, become a dominant outside WR for the Patriots.

- DT Armstead - When they signed him, I got excited, because he has a ton of ability. It would be great for the Pats to get big-time push on the pocket from the inside, which will make a guy like Chandler Jones even more dangerous.

- WR Amendola - Not surprising to have another WR on my list, because the Pats have all kinds of offensive (specifically, pass receiving) holes to fill. I think the kid is really good, and I hope we get a whole year out of him at full health and productivity.

- S Wilson - Love hard-hitting, intimidating safeties that just knock the crap out of people. I hope Wilson has enough gas in the tank to really help the secondary, because if he really plays like he is capable, he's a tremendous player.

Of the new guys, who are the ones you want to see be very successful this year?

I want a tie for first on biggest impact from all the new guys.

Jamie Collins. It would be great to have him become a beast at rushing the QB. That man's athletic ability is off the charts. I just hope he can harness it and use it well on the field.

With Gronkowski injured and Hernandez in the pokey, I am rooting
for Sudfeld. He appeared to connect well with Brady. Hopefully,
he can also block well.

Obvious answer is any/several of the new wide receivers.

Amendola - WR
Dobson - WR
Boyce - WR
Jones - WR

With Hernandez in shackles I anticipate us using a 3 WR set most of the time in 2013.

Collins - DE/LB

If he can give us half of what Von Miller gives Denver's it would be a huge addition for us.

Tough call because if Amendola doesn't deliver they are really screwed, he has to make up at least 2/3 of what they lost with Welker. Other than that it's Dobson because they don't have anything at WR if he doesn't.
