Today's JaMarcus Russell update: He's down to 265 pounds. He began his latest comeback at 315. Still work to be done. #progress

Losing 60 pounds is no laughing matter. He seems determined to make a comeback, would you give him a second chance? He's only turns 28 in August remember.

I am dumb for voting on this poll. Then again, it's off season. My bad.

Give him a chance to do what? Drink cough syrup on the sideline?

He seems to have found motivation, which is huge, but does he have the football smarts to be an NFL QB? If he has the tools I'd give him a bare minimum deal.

Why bother? The guy hasn't done **** on a football field in like ever and he's shown himself to be pretty much useless when he was given the shot to be the guy for a team.

I would take Bill Russell or Jane Russell on the team over that big ass waste of a roster space.

If he wasn't ready as a multimillion dollar player,he won't be by getting vet minimum now.

I think he is just desperate to waste another teams money because he blew all his Raider money on those big gold chains.

Losing 60 pounds will not cure his Defense Illiteracy.

If you're desperate for a QB, he'd be worth taking a look at to see if there's been any change in his mental toughness.

For the Patriots, I'd say "hell no" x 5. A team like the Jets could take a chance, but the media would kill him. so you'd have to find a small market that doesn't hammer on their players too bad.

Too bad he lost the weight, after cutting Love and Deaderick we could use some big bodies on the D-line

At what? Stadium security?

Yes yes, he was absolutely terrible, had no motivation, and was a fat@$$.

It appears as though he is finally motivated and no longer a fat@$$. Look at the 2007-2008 Raiders rosters, it was 2013 Jet bad.

A motivated Russell, the best arm talent ever, that would actually put time into learning and working, I'd be interested in a camp invite.

I'm guess I'm nuts rooting for this guy .

Sadly, any time over the last 10 years he could have sold his gold for a big profit…he even screwed that up with the falling gold prices.

I love codeine.

I'd be more worried about what caused him to gain the 60 pounds he had to lose, considering he "always wanted" to be an NFL quarterback.

For the Patriots hell no for a few other teams in the NFL I would say it would be worth a shot but not much more than a camp invite with no guarentees.

If the Pats can bring in Chris Redman for a look, they could bring in Russell for a look as well. It doesn't hurt to evaluate someone based on what work he has been putting in on his own. Then I would give him a test and see if he is literate.

That is what I would be willing to do and see if he can be a NFL player again.

It would kind of be like when the Raiders got Plunkett from us for nothing.

There is no harm in taking a look and bringing him in for a week for an assessment.

This is just getting sad now. The guy made a big mistake leaving school early without finishing his formal education and getting a degree. He decided to let it all ride on his strong arm and athletic talent that had gotten him that far, but that alone won't work in the pro's. Instead, he blew up like a blimp, got hood rich, left the league, went broke, and now has nothing to fall back on. I wish him the best of luck in his comeback effort, but I wouldn't want him.
