I can't believe the people who are worried about the Ravens quickly jumping out in front of the Jags. Ain't going to happen. The ravens are a team that win with minimal offense and stifling defense. When was the last time they took a 20-7 lead into the half? I can't remember.

Goodell just screwed Kraft bigtime.

Check this out:

Let me tell you about the Jags recently.

After 1st qtr:

Vikings 17 Jags 0
Texans 10 Jags 0

After 2nd qtr

Bears 20 Jags 3
Packers 13 Jags 7

The Jaguars over the last month have fallen behind early and often.

Not good. By the 2nd quarter, the Jets will realize they are completely out of it!!

And I'm also furious because I'm going to be at the Patriots-Bills game and I wanted to see the Patriots potentially celebrating on the field in case of a comfy Jets' lead.

So you need to go to a good sports bar after the Buffalo game and watch the Jets-Dolphins, Ravens-Jaguars.

Besides, Jacksonville did get our hopes up for a while by leading Indianapolis for most of the night. I wasn't expecting that.

In reality, Baltimore and Miami are better teams than their opponents... Baltimore is really good this year and they are my pick to play against Carolina in Tampa Bay.

We lost our season in November - We needed a win against preferably the Jets but blew that with a bad night of football (too many mistakes). This season has been a good rebuilding year with some good young defenders and a bargaining chip at the QB position.

I just want to see the Pats win because it would chap the Jets fans hide - no chance to get to the playoffs and they get to see Chad Pennington kick their collective arses. Then on Monday, Dec 29, the NY tabloids chase Mangini out of town.

Did you see my post about the Jags?

In the last few weeks alone, the Texans, Packers, and Vikings have jumped out to 17-0, 10-0, 20-3 leads on them in the first 20 minutes.

I'm not sure that any of those teams have that much more going for them than the Ravens.

Not to mention the fact that the Ravens in the last 3 weeks jumped to a 14-0 lead against the Redskins in the 1st qtr, 13-3 over the Bengals.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up as I haven't read the whole thread, But I can't see Mangina throwing in the towel after the Jets horrid preformance the last couple of weeks. I just can't see him not wanting to beat a hated division rival to cap the final game of the season. His coaching has been so bad the last few games he must want any kinda vindication. Not to mention that Farve is gonna play his heart out seeing it may be his last game. For once I hope he doesn't throw picks. As much as I hate Mangina, If the lose because of poor coaching, it really doesn't mean he's throwing the game because they've been pretty much consistant about losing in December due to poor coaching.

This decision was about ratings. They moved the game they thought would draw the highest ratings (Jets-Dolphins) besides the SD-DEN which was already moved to 8PM. They moved the Ravens game to at least make it somewhat fair.

If the NFL put competition first, they would have flexed the Giants and Ravens game, that way EVERYONE plays like their postseason lives depend on it.

However, if the league was REALLY interested in competition, they wouldn't have 4 divisions in each conference in the first place, a condition which may very well send an 8-8 team to the playoffs while an 11-5 team watches from home.

The Jets have plenty to play for even if the Pats win and the Ravens are running away with victory. First, if the Jets feel there aren't making the playoffs, their going to try to take Miami with them. No matter how much the Jets hate the Pats, they hate the Dolphins as well. Second, how bad would the Jets look if they lost to a guy (Pennington) they cut to make room for Brett Favre? Mangini has to win this game to prove that they made the right decision to make room for Favre. And Lastly, with a Jets loss at home will probably ensure that Mangini will be fired and beg Bill Belichick for a job with the Pats.

Tubby Ratfink will be lucky to get an assistant coaching job under Frank Solich at Miami of Ohio if he loses Sunday while making more "fishy" coaching decisions.

In fact, I think the league ought to relocate the Jets franchise to Iowa and move them to the AFC west. Put Pittsburgh and Indy back in the AFC east. Put KC in the AFC North, Put Miami in the AFC South.

Maybe BB call up Mangini, buries the hatchet, and says if he wins this game, he'll always have a spot in New England

You can fix that by having two eight team divisions - Play a round Robin with all teams in your conference plus three teams with similar records in the opposite conference. You'll end with the best teams in the playoffs.

That's what i'm saying i'm sure us fans would burry the spy-gate hatchet. After a win against the Dolphins on Sunday. Mangini would never have to pay for another meal in New England. Also his kid's can go free to their College of choice. Think alot ain't riding on that Jets game.?

I can't believe you're serious about this. When the Jets are in at halftime and have 15 minutes to breathe, it will take a LOT out of them to learn the Ravens are up 21-3.

Why is that different at 4 than it is at 1 when they would see the same score and see the Pats up on the Bills which they will be.

There's absolutely no way that Mangini doesn't try his damnedest to beat the Dolphins next Sunday, no matter whether the Jets have any realistic playoff hopes or not, and it's not because he's suddenly developed some sense of pride and integrity.

Mangini must be well aware that next Sunday, he could be essentially playing to keep his job.

When Woody Johnson takes stock after the season, missing the playoffs at 10-6 can be defended as a matter of misfortune. Dropping 4 of your last 5 games and eliminating yourself from postseason contention w/out anyone else's help would be indefensible and just plain pathetic. Also, let's remember that while the Pats might be public enemy #1 out in Rutherford, NJ, they've only just recently overtaken the Dolphins in that role. There's no way that ANYONE in that organization wants the Dolphins clinching the AFC East over the Jets in the Meadowlands.

In order to salvage his reputation as a coach and maintain some post-Jets hireablity, this game is a must-win for Mangini.

this game is a must-win for Mangini.

What if the Jets GM, owner or whoever comes out and states that Mangini is there to stay regardless of the outcome and that same person(s) also have a grudge against the Pats and instructs Mangini to take the fall if the Ravens are up by more than two scores in the 4th quarter?

Does this really need to be explained? Because the Ravens game will not have even started. I would have been fine if all three games had been on at the same time. That would have been great. But the Patriots game will be finished by 4. So there won't be any doubt. If you had two games going on alongside the Jets-Phins, there would be a lot more variables involved. Pretty simple answer.

I'm sure Mangini has done his damndest already, even in Seattle. We've already seen him do his damnedest. I'm more concerned about his players. I haven't read anyone here say that mangini will throw the game on purpose.

What?

Where did I make that point?

I said the Jags have been laying down in the last few weeks. They've gotten blown out the beginning of all their games in the last month except Indy.

And when you think about it, something is really really wrong with Indy at the beginning of games because they constantly fall behind.

Look at the Cardinals yesterday. You think they lose by that much of they weren't trying a little harder? This is the NFL. Motivation and effort are huge because the teams are so close. The difference between our loss at home to the Phins and our win against the Phins can be explained easily as: motivation.

No other difference.

yes but the fins also have enough motivation to win the game. dont get me wrong , the jets CAN win the game but given their suckfest of past 5 weeks its expectedly questionable if they can do so.
I want us to win , at the very least eliminate the jets.

How about this?

Ravens up 20-7 at halftime, Mangini orders the troops to tank it, Dolphins win the division... and then the Jaguars come from behind to beat the Ravens 21-20, and the Jets' loss gives the Pats the wildcard. How funny would that be?

I want the division, but it will be in the Jets' best interests to stay competitive from start to finish.

Exactly
It would be ridiculous for Mangini & Co. to assume anything!

I see so many saying MANGINI wont throw the game and will try his hardest to win even if the playsoffs isn't a possibility.

BULL! even if true.

Mr. RAT isn't blocking, throwing and catching. IT'S THE PLAYERS!!!!!

If no playoffs the Players, who want MANGINI gone, will throw him under the BUS!

This was an intentional move my the NFL to make it even more difficult for the PATS to make the playoffs. It is so obvious.
