His comments really speak to the reason the Patriots believe there will be some sort of rookie slotting and cap on overall contract size. The veterans increasingly resent the present system despite all Upshaw and Condon's rhetoric over the years about trickle down taking care of everything. It has not trickeled down far enough and in fact is the main reason many of them have to uproot themselves during the backend of their career even if they can still play at a relatively high level or bring added value in the locker room unless they are willing to hang on in minimum deals.
