Glad to hear he is staying classy, wonder if it is a side effect of the honesty of Bill.. no false advertising...

He always seemed to save the biggest plays for against the Colts. The goal-line stand to stuff James in Indy and the sack of Manning which knocked the Colts out of field goal range in Foxboro.

His comments really speak to the reason the Patriots believe there will be some sort of rookie slotting and cap on overall contract size. The veterans increasingly resent the present system despite all Upshaw and Condon's rhetoric over the years about trickle down taking care of everything. It has not trickeled down far enough and in fact is the main reason many of them have to uproot themselves during the backend of their career even if they can still play at a relatively high level or bring added value in the locker room unless they are willing to hang on in minimum deals.

It was also interesting that while he hasn't spoken to Richard since the trade he seemed to acknolwledge that Richard was wanting/anticipating his big deal and for him, after winning so much so early, that mattered more than winning more rings. As he admitted it had mattered more to him. Life is all about choices. Ce la vie.

Good interview. Class act.

Was asked if he and BB spoke about returning. Said that they had a "man to man" discussion. Obviously, BB is not looking to go down the WM road at this point. Said that hes not interested in comming back for 6 games- even if it's for a title. In order to prevent him from "hanging it up", would need to sign on with a team within the next few weeks.....

Willie McGinest on WEEI

Thanks for the memories Willy. The quintessential big game player on defense.

Willie is one of the guys who went for the money and still stayed classy about it. I think when Seau got 55 Willie whined for one whole day, then pulled himself back together.

Respect seems important to McGinest. Well, he has mine.

The Upshaw Condon thing has always been a total scam job to veteran players. The perverse veteran minimum clause. Paying rookies truckloads of loot when 1 out of 3 might have a decent career, ect. Totally absurd.

I imagine most players want money more than rings if they already have rings. I have yet to see a player leave NE over a lack of rings. :D
