#1 media market game, a top team in the league, a "rising star" vs. aging face of the league, national appeal- I find it hard to believe they would go with anyone but Nantz/Simms for the Patriots/Jets game.
I'd take Gus Johnson over anybody, that's one excited guy!
God no! STOKLEY DOWN THE SIDELINE, TOUCHDOWN! 87 YARDS, OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!
You're comparing apples to oranges. If CBS considered the Pats-Jets to be their #1 game, then it would be on at 4:15 rather than at 1:00. It wouldn't make sense to put their top broadcast team on a game that relatively few would see. There are so many other regional games on at 1, compared to just a few at 4:15, that far more fans will see the late game. New York may indeed be the biggest television market, but Chicago is right up there too. Plus, the Steelers have a big fan base - especially outside of their home market - and being the defending champs they are going to draw in a lot of casual fans who normally only watch other teams.#1 media market game, a top team in the league, a "rising star" vs. aging face of the league, national appeal- I find it hard to believe they would go with anyone but Nantz/Simms for the Patriots/Jets game.

Again, two different topics. And the Patriots and Jets wouldn't be a huge draw?
Weren't there some complaints last year about hte Patriots being stuck with late and/or national games early in the year that were causing some problems or fatigue?

Yes, I want the Pats to play as many 1:00 games as possible and as few late or night games as possible. That gives the coaches more time to prepare for the next game, and the players have more time to heal and prepare also.
The question is 'which game will the network send their #1 broadcast team to cover'? The answer is their primary late game, as that is broadcast into far more homes than any early regional game.
It's not a case of the Pats-Jets being a better game than the Steelers-Bears. It's a case of the Pats-Jets being broadcast into 1/6 of the US, plus being up against the Fox game, as opposed to the Pit-Chi game being broadcast into 1/2 of the US and having almost no competition.
WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!checked the web site and we have Gumbal and Dierdorf...
