I just read joseph will get 35 to 40 mill over 6 years or so. So that would be a huge fa signing. I know it can be structured so lower cap hits are in early years but wow that's a lot.
If that ends up being the case I doubt the Pats will be in the running. Giants boards were debating earlier this year whether it would take more than $3M-5/year to re-sign him. I'm guessing it does, and ends up being in the ballpark of $5-6M/year. But then, I had Desmond Bryant as my leading DT target last year, and never thought he would get the kind of deal he got with with Cleveland (5 years / $34M). It all depends on the market and how much someone is willing to (over)pay.
Joseph is only 25. If the Pats could land him, a nucleus of Joseph, Siliga, Jones and Armstead moving forward would be very solid. Bring back Tommy Kelly on a reduced salary and maybe draft a day 3 sleeper like Zack Kerr, and you'd have a really good DT group with a solid base for the long haul, and probably save some money.
