It's worth noting that since he was an UDFA, he's only under contract through 2015, and is then a restricted free agent for 2016.

There are really three options:
  • Let him walk/do a sign-and-trade
  • Sign him to an RFA tender ($1.5M+/1 year)
  • Sign him to a different contract (as they did with Hoomanawanui)
What do you think BB would do? What do you think he should do?

He has been pretty good for the Pats. Certainly one of the last priorities but he is upper echelon and helps give the team good field position. I'd definitely make him an offer but not anything like bank breaking.

Btw he has put the ball inside the 20....25 times in 69 attempts which is pretty good. Looking at high round pick Anger, he has done it 27 times in 94 attempts. The aging Lechler who got the contract of a lifetime from the Raiders years ago has 25 in 83 attempts.

He will probably do something unexpected.
