I'm not talking about the protection they gave Brady - though it was solid.
I'm not talking about the tremendous run blocking they did - though it was as good as I can remember.
I'm talking about the tone that got set. I felt like the offensive line's completely dominant performance against DL stacked with quality players set the tone for the rest of the game. When we started smacking them around on offense and tearing through them I felt like the defense really started feeding off of that.
I'm not a stats guy - fantasy football has ruined football dialogue. I believe that there are some aspects of football that cannot be captured on a stats sheet. And I think that the mentality a punishing running game fostered lead to a lot of the big hits we were seeing and a lot of the more aggressive defensive play.
I haven't been this upbeat against our OL since we found out Waters probably wasn't coming back. Now let's just see if they can repeat against one of the top 3 front sevens in the game, IMO, on Sunday.
