The 16lbs psi from the Jets game just shows how very little the refs ever paid to ball inflation or process. I would not be surprised if most refs just gave the balls a squeeze and added/subtracted whatever they wanted.
A perfectly accurate and succinct summation. I would add only this: I'm as incredibly, totally tired of this entire sordid ordeal as anyone could possibly be. I read the endless, detailed posts that continue to debate this subject and, quite honestly, I have no idea how anyone can still muster the effort to do so.The whole sordid story bugs me.. from the onset. From the Refs losing track of footballs, the chain of custody of the footballs in question, the ill timed late night leaks, failure to retract the information, the kangaroo court that judged Brady, ignoring the science.. to the NFL refusing to release their data from last year.
The whole thing incredibly pisses me off, it was an equipment issue and those charged with monitoring equipment **** the bed, but were praised.. Walt Anderson we love you.
Just got my blood pressure up again..

Oh, now we don't like JK either??the whole saga bugs me.

Agreed.
Money is not about a conspiracy, nor is ego and power. I always asked these 2 questions:
1. Was Mike Kensil at the game on 10.16.14?
2. How did ref Bill Leavy allow the balls to be that far over the 13.5 limit, if the weather that day was in the low 60s and the balls returned to a slightly higher temp at, say 70 degrees, inside the stadium?
Lastly, why was Bill Leavy demoted in 2013, only to be PROMOTED after the 2014 season and why were both he and Kensil's offices moved on Park Ave?
Who promotes a recently demoted ref, for special consulting services if the ref was so poor at his job?
Could it be Bill Leavy knows that Kensil took some of those balls at the Jets request to try to cheat Brady and the Pats>?
You'd have to be ****faced to not see the gauge at around 16 PSI.
Lastly, how arrogant and sloppy is it that Wells put that in the report, apparently to show some kind of seed of intent AFETR 10.16.14 for Brady to order Jastremski to deflate balls for god knows what reason, but in the Wells Report itself from the game that day, ,Brady is quoted as speciyuing the PSI range of 12.5 - 13.5 because he was so annoyed?
Why would he ask to doublecheck the game manual and thre rule, if he wanted it below 12.5 for whatever the reason may be?
The whole discussion of PSI has never come up in the history of brady's career at any time and he had to doublecheck what it was because 4 balls were so egregiously over-inflated, giving the Jets an advantage.
It's just amazing to me.
Was Mike Kensil at the 10.16.14 Jets vs Pats game? Was he? The only way to find out, apparrently, is to drop a defamation suit and ask him on a federal stand.
The last obvious dead giveaway that nothing happened to the footballs vs the Colts is the idea McNally would have HAD to have been present to see if the refs added air to the balls at all, because it wouldn't make sense for McNally to tamper with the balls after Brady blessed them, mere hours earlier. So, if there is no security footage of McNally standing there looking over the refs shoulders as they check the PSIs, then why would he take it upon himself, in awe of Brady, to tamper with the QBs preferences? FOr ****s and giggles?
I mean, does Goodell really think intelligent people who aren't even Pats fans, are all going to believe this?
Thee are so many tells in the Wells Report, its not even funny. They erred in the fact they used the 10.14.16 game to show intent that brady is uptight about the PSI and then cherrypicked old texts, strung that together with the 10.16 game, which somehow meant between 10.16 and January, but only at home games, all of a sudden, Brady orchestrated this scheme?
Really? Brady has to have the ball at 11.5 or 11 to start a game to be a HOF QB? We're supposed to believe this? Not to mention, anyone who has ever thrown a football would rather have it harder, not softer. A slower rotating ball gets to its target slower. Duh.
It's just so preposterous.
If you wanted to soften the balls, just have Vince roll on the bag during the national anthem for chrissakes.
Also, why would a part time guy like that lie to BB, Kraft and Brady? He wouldn't.
Exactly.
And is it really a conspiracy theory when we say the burden of proof is on the NFL to show that they AREN'T trying to stack the cards against them? Everyone knows rock hard footballs are NOT to the liking of the players and I think 16psi might even be beyond the Wilson specs.
There's not a whole lot of hard evidence of Brady doing anything in DefameGate
But we do have evidence of the NFL giving preferential treatment to the Jets outright lying and deceit to tar, feather and impede the Patriots.
So much evidence that I think it's fair to say it's a fact the NFL itself is biased against the Pats and for the Jets.
Don't believe me? Just ask Jay Feely - who's equipment crew was altering his footballs to make them go further, were caught and given a slap on the wrist with no inference of Feely's involvement despite the fact that he openly admits he routinely tips the ball boys.
Feely: NFL slandered Brady 'with no evidence'
So by my way of thinking of it, with such a long, proven track record of conspiring against the Patriots and in support of the Jets, can the NFL prove they DIDN'T tamper with the footballs?
Heck - even if somehow you make the same leap of logic that Goodell did on Brady keeping his cellphone as Wells approved - what did Goodell do when the Jets QB was involved in a case of sexual harrassment involving two Jets employees?
Nothing. Simply fined him $50,000 for refusing to cooperate by refusinig to turn over the phone with the actual evidence on it.
Former Jets massage therapists sue Brett Favre, alleging sexual harassment
So no, it's not a conspiracy theory to think that the NFL itself is inherently unfair
Exactly.

O. Henry couldn't have come up with a better story line.
The NFL* and the MSM sports media have so effectively branded the Pats as cheaters, that the irony is that it is the Pats who are actually the victims of cheating rather than the other way around.
That is correct. I forget his name, but it was listed in that piece. If I am Brady, I ask my attorneys to call him to the stand to testify in the defamation suit.
If the Pats get railroaded again, it will be because they keep winning. They didn't do it last season. If they did we would have heard about it. What makes you think they'd pick this year as the year to bone the Pats on this again?
And it would be extremely suspicious that the Pats would get caught up in another scandal like this. Even to people who are Deflategate truthers. If the Pats get railroaded again, it will be because of some other perceived infraction of the rules.
I believe that most of the other 31 fanbases aren't even aware of the "16 PSI" issue in the NYJ home game. I know that every time I bring it up to anyone in PA or OH, no one even knows what the hell I'm talking about.
How the NFL managed to sweep this under the rug is beyond me. It's really the one and only real proof that we have that the balls weren't being inspected properly. Roger Goodell's "play dumb" act ("so the game was in New York, then?") somehow managed to work, which is both disgusting and unethical.

It's also why Grigson asked Sean Sullivan to send him an email that said "everyone knows NE deflates footballs"......It removes Grigson from the Harbaugh-->Pagano duo.
Or, at least he thought.
If "everyone knows" and the Pats are clearly watched like a hawk, with the Pats knowing this, why on earth would the Pats do this and WHY did it take until AFTER Brady suggested Harbaugh "check the rule book", to address this supposed cheating and advantage?
Get these people on a federal stand and we'll see texts, emails and phone calls all back and forth between then leading up to the game, and thereafter.
The "everyone knows" story was a weak basis for an accusation and investigation. Wells asked the two Colts ball boys where they heard this story that, apparently, "everyone knows" and neither could remember who told them. Wells either didn't look for or couldn't find anyone to corroborate that story. I don't think any other accusations like that showed up in ESPN's 90 anonymous sources story. That seems a little odd, because you would think some current or retired ball boy from the Bills, Jets, or Dolphins (or any other team) would have some story about questionable behavior by the Patriots with the footballs that they would share with Wells or the ESPN writers, who were prepared to believe anything. It's a small point, but if there is no basis for the accusation, then an objective investigator would start looking at the motives of the accusers.
An "everyone knows" story is like one of those high school stories that are usually a myth, but everyone accepts them, like "Everyone knows Johnny Switchblade drinks a fifth of whiskey each morning before school." If a vice principal ever decided to try and track down that story, they would find that no, no one every saw Johnny actually drinking, never saw a bottle, and never smelled whiskey on his breath. After locating the source of the rumors, it might come out that Johnny once joked about that, but never actually did it. Someone overheard the joke, the story grew from there, but there was never anything to it. Unless Wells and Goodell were investigating this story. Then they would decide the story was true, despite there being no evidence, and suspend Johnny Switchblade from school for 4 weeks.
There was a conversation between McNally and Jastremski where McNally told J that he (meaning his boss the equipment manager) must be working his balls over hard. It's a pun. He is referring to J's testicles. It's a joke. J tells McNally "I've got a big needle for you". It's also a pun. The needle referred to his "big" penis. Wells (Inspector Clouseau) questioned what the "big needle" was being used for. Obviously, that "needle" must be up to no good. The idiot took a **** joke for evidence of a conspiracy and people bought it including a couple of judges. This idiotic accusation might be the dumbest accusation of wrong doing in the history of mankind.
If the Pats get railroaded again, it will be because they keep winning.
