So, you're the GM (not Bart Scott, though his comments don't seem as outlandish today). On one side, you've got the best TE the game has ever seen. He completely changes your offense and you've lost many big games without him. On the other side, you've got a guy who has not played a full season after year 3 and likely never will again. You hold your breath each time he falls it takes a big hit.
Question: Do you still open the vault and give him the money he feels he deserves and his talent demands, which is top dollar? Or do you balk because you fear you won't get your money's worth (legitimately) and risk seeing him on another team? What, in your opinion, is fair for both sides contractually?
