I really don't get this. Sounds like the Giants are drunk on Super Bowl punch.
What universe do they live in that they think they can have a better team without Shockey than WITH Shockey?
I don't buy the whole disruption to the team, the guys under contact and he will have to play.
Someone just needed to sit him down and smack some sense into him. Seems like no one over there has any balls. From Tiki to Shockey, that place needs some veteran "personnel management".
And please don't go with the Kevin Boss argument, I'm sure he's good but no one knows what kind of player he will be all season, you know that you got with Shockey.
They're likely to point to the body of evidence provided to them by their playoff run to the SB last season. I guess how well you judge this trade may be an indicator of how much of a believer you are in the idea that the winning value of a football team can be greater than the sum of its individual players. If I were a Giants fan, I'd feel good about his potential drama outbursts this season take place on a different team... now the Giants can end up more like the Patriots and just focus on winning games each week.
Man Just the sound of that name makes me cringe. I will always associate that name with the SB. The 45 yarder rumble was bad enough but the S-head sitting behind me screaming at me in a gargled New Jersey accent at the top of his lungs " Who's the BOSS !!! Who's the f -ing BOSS!!" He was also leading the 18-1 chants as we trudged out. Oh well I can't wait to start the new season to mask these bad memories.I really don't get this. Sounds like the Giants are drunk on Super Bowl punch.

BTW - I'm not a Shockey fan, I just don't get why you trade your best players away - Jason Taylor falls into this same argument.
The Giants were offered this at draft time and turned it down?
Some egg on their face there.
Their window for repeating is very small, and this year's draft was weak, AND the Saints could very well be much improved next year. The Giants had a high 2nd coming to them, and now they end up with a ??
Little bit of egg on their face for not trading him at draft time.
Not sure if you are referring to the 2008 draft class or the 2008 Giants draft picks. In either case, I have to disagree with you. I believe the 2008 draft class will prove to be very solid and the Giants looked to have added several talented players at need positions.
I agree with your primary point that getting the 40th pick in 2008 is likely to be much better than getting the Saints 2nd round pick in 2009. The Saints have a very good chance to win their division which would put their pick at 50+...and if a significant number of juniors don't declare, the 2009 draft class will not be very deep.
