Instead of worrying about his team tanking 3 in a row and how to improve, his arrogance is thinking his team will look back at this losing skid and smile as if other teams are going to just lie down and let a dormant offense suddenly flourish for the rest of the year

They better take it game by game rather then forecasting a playoff berth on a team that currently has a lot of problems.

Oh I would enjoy that so so much! It's very possible too, although unlikely especially with their starting QB out. ( not that he was anything to write home about. )

What will there be more of in 2011?:

    • broken promises and guarantees from various Jets
    • wins by the Jets

I'm fairly sure that they've already broken more than 13 promises.

Brandon Marshall will be blanketed by Revis,it's going to have to be Bush or Bess that is going to have to have a career day to win that game.

What do you expect him to say? Concede defeat?

As much as I'd like for the Jets to fail, Sanchez is saying every thing right. Sure he could have more of a focus on expressing the need for hard work and practice, and making a point that they have a long way to go, but he's representing the way Rex has cultured the team.

Until they win a road game or two, every promise goes out the window.

Trying to be slightly objective, the Jets did just go through a tough 3 game stretch: West Coast trip, followed by @ Baltimore, then @ New England. That would be a difficult run for any team. The Jet's problem is that they lost all 3 of those games convincingly.

The other problem is that they have is that, instead of only worrying about New England in the division, Buffalo is also 4-1. Not only do the Jets have to start playing well immediately, they have to hope that either Buffalo or the Patriots falter so they have a shot at the wildcard.

Things may look very different by mid-November, but, like the OP said, I think the Jets should just worry about beating Miami and then going from there.

Have you ever heard Tom Brady or Peyton Manning say anything remotely similar to this? The alternative isn't conceding defeat, is admitting the team has a lot to improve on both sides of the ball and that they have to get it together if they want to accomplish everything they thought they could before the start of the season. That's what you say in that situation.

"We'll be just fine and we'll make the postseason" is a quote that just sounds so forced, it just stinks of false confidence. From "there's nothing wrong with 15-1" to this quote, it just seems to me as if Sanchez doesn't really have a clue about talking to the media, and tries to portray himself as this confident leader character to hide his and the team's insecurities.

Like I said, it's the way Rex has cultured the team. This is how they've motivated the players before with great success. He's not Tom Brady or Peyton Manning and he shouldn't try to be.

what else would you have him say, anyways? "Yeah, we completely suck and might as well just pack it in"?

The problem with that is that everybody can see right through it. Sanchez isn't one of the Jets leaders, nor one of their best players. He's sayng that just to be bold, basically, and if I can pick up on that, I'm sure the Jets' player can also.

Rex talks a lot, but he gets to do it because apart from the fact that that's his personality, he takes responsibility when things go wrong and he's a very good coach to boot. Sanchez is simply trying to be more like that, trying to sound like the tough guy who handles adversity with ease. That's not really him, though, and it shows. That's not the way Rex has cultured the team, that's a QB feeling a desperate need to hide his insecurities and shield himself from criticism.

problem for any team in the AFC including the jets is the WC berth this yr has more contenders than ever - OAK/SD in the west, HOU/TENN in the south ,pitt/bal in north and pats/bills in east. So every loss to either of these teams could be big in tie breakers and so far the jets have lost to both bal and oak. If the lose to SD also they could be in bigger trouble. But all it takes is one or 2 tough losses for any of these teams and jets can get back in it.long way to go.

I'd say very unlikely. Not only do they have a new QB, there's a reason they haven't won a game yet. The Jets are at home and it's a must win for them. I expect a W.
