Old pal Roman Phifer is the Assistant LB coach for JM.

Good luck, Roman. Hired to be a situational player, you ended up being on the field for almost all the defensive snaps.

hmmm hired to assistant coach the LBs.....Maybe he will wind up doing more:D(DC....maybe he still got some LB left)

One of the most under-rated pieces of the Pats championship teams. He got a ton of tackles every year he played for us, was smart, tough, and a 3-down LB.

Good for "Phife." He did indeed turn out being one of our strong defensive players. I miss that guy.

Good luck to him and a heck of a player here at the end of his career...

I'm going to enjoy watching AFC West games this season with all the ex-Pats.

Interesting little side effect of the spreading Belichick tree -- more opportunities for retired players who know his defense to break into coaching. Best of luck in this new career, Mr. Phifer!

Roman Phifer one of my all time favorite Patriot players.....truly underrated and such a smart and versatile player who ended up being a huge part of the early championship run! Best of luck to Phifer

Hey, you're not the guy who posts as NE Insider, are you Ernie? Bill will be pissed!

This was a very smart hire by Josh.....he obviously knew what he was getting......a knowledgable and class individual who will be in the league for a while in the coaching area I think.

Phifer wasn't just here during the early run, he was here almost all snaps for all THREE championships. We haven't won one since he, or Ted Johnson, left.

All the best to him. Class act.
