Rex Ryan "We picked up O'Connell to be a QB not an assistant coach"

Was Vrabel offered around the league? Is Felger's source right when he says that Vrabel was gone because of reasons which weren't play-based and that Cassel only became part of that deal later, almost as a throw-in?

We don't know, but I highly doubt it. Theres no way anyone give sup a 2nd round pick for Vrable. Hes a 35 year old player who is already in serious decline.

Not specifically aimed at your post, but inclusive of it:

We don't know. As with so much of this stuff, we get little or no information, and then people begin playing the speculation game.

I knew there would be downside to giving Felger another shot on the radio...

Felger spent considerable time yesterday defending his approach to this job. Being positive is boring, being critical and a **** stirrer is more interesting. If he has to be positive because the team is wildly successful then he might as well be selling insurance. If only he could...

I don't doubt that the fact that Vrabel was also becoming something of a negative leadership force in the locker room due to his union involvement at the time his skills were eroding to the point he didn't represent value at his backend salary was factored in. It's part of the leadership value evaluation. Tedy continued to ace that one so had his knee not balked he would have remained. Ditto Rodney (who decided not to persue a longer career while a UFA).

The idea that the guy Pioli drafted and traded for and recently signed to a 6 year $60M deal was a throw in to a Vrabel deal is laughable.

The idea that Vrabel and Cassel would be traded together for just a second round pick is laughable too. It happened, though. Thank you for your opinion, though. It's the differences that make this board worth coming to.

Why? Vrabel, despite his history, is essentially veteran trash. His only value is his leadership/knowledge of the new system they're trying to implement.

Vrable was a throw in, as hes not worth anything.
