    Weekend 21st/22nd March

On Saturday, Manu lose at Fulham and Chelsea lose at Spurs.
    Arsenal win away at Newcastle.
On Sunday, Liverpool take advantage of Manu's slip up, winning 5-0 at home to Villa, for whom the Champs League dream is over.

Manu now lead Liverpool by a point, although they have played a game less. Liverpool have a better goal difference.
Chelsea in third and Arsenal fourth.

Dire times for the Toon Army.

North of the border, Celtic fail to capitalise from Ranger's slip up on the Saturday. Both teams draw 2-2. Celts still 3pts ahead, 9 games to go.

    W'end 4th-5th April

On Saturday, Arsenal win 1-0 at home, Chelsea beat forlorn Newcastle 2-0 at St.James's park. The Shearer bounce did not happen. Relegation looms for 2 of the 3 NE teams.
Liverpool leave it mighty late to beat Fulham 1-0 in London. Title winning stuff! Rafa sends out a message to Manu.
On Sunday, Manu beat Aston Villa 3-2 after being 1up then 2-1 down. A 17yo unknown Italian scores in injury time to gain all 3pts for the title favourites. Title winning stuff!

In Scotland, Celtic and Rangers both win. Celtic still 3pts up.

Liverpool's win at Fulham was a 1-0 massacre. We should have been 5-0 up at half time. United are wobbling badly.

Excellent win yesterday for the Reds, needed it after mid-week. Best tribute possible on the Hillsborough Anniversary as well.

    Justice for the 96.

Very emotional time for Liverpool Football Club and all concerned, a time that brings deep sadness as we remember our fellow reds, friends, brothers and sisters who never came home. My uncle and my dads cousin were both there that day and it's never really been spoken about which tells you everything. I'd imagine they'd be in tears just like most of the fans and players who were there that day, it just provokes so much emotion.

You know damn well the 96 would be talking about Torres and Aggers goals so I'll continue with doing the same, they were f'kin blistering. A real shame we didn't show Chelsea the real Liverpool last wednesday but it was nice to see the character in the squad come through as we virtualy picked up were we left off in the league. Yesterday really could have been 10 or 11 if we didn't let that complacency kick in second half and really went for our opertunities.

Hopefully the fans looking down enjoyed it...

Justice will come, Walk on reds...

    Sat April 11

The top 4 in England won this w'end.
L'pool hammered Blackburn, Chelsea win at home. Arsenal easy win away, Manu leave it late.

In Scotland, Celtic draw in Edinburgh whist Rangers win at home. :(
1 point the difference now for Celtic with only 6 games to play.

I would also like to echo the sentiments regarding the Hillsborough Anniversary.

Celtic were and still are absolutely fantastic when it comes to Hillsborough and supporting the various campaigns. The memorial game Celtic treated Liverpool and the fans like kings that day and although I personaly wasn't there, I've seen footage and know people who were and it was tremendously emotional.

    YNWA :)

I was at the game in 1989. Unbelievable night.
It has been reported on some Celtic websites that Liverpool TV is free to air on the 15th, and it will be dedicating the whole day to Hillsborough. There is also a show about the match that night.

    Tues/Wed 21st/22nd April 09

On Tues night, Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal. What a game! Arshavin scores 4 goals at Anfield. L'pool will rue the poor defending.

On Wed, if Tues night was the Ying, then Chelsea v Everton was the Yang.
0-0, not much else to say.
Manu stretch their lead to 3pts. They also have a game in hand. Hard to see them slip up.

On Saturday in Scotland, Celtic and Rangers both win.
5 games to go and the Celts with a 1pt lead.

If we didn't make mistakes it would have been 4-1 to us. We were far too powerful for Arsenal, men against boys and they should have never have come out of that game with any sort of dignity, never mind scoring 4 and a point.

    25th/26 April 2009

In the race for the title, Liverpool beat Hull away in the early game, then Manu beat Spurs in the afternoon.
I was listening to the Manu game on the car radio with some friends when Spurs were 2 goals up, and a mate said that the ref is a Manc and they would get the first dodgy pen they claim for. Which they duly got. Even the guys on 5Live couldn't believe it. He knew he was wrong immediately because he only booked their keeper, when he should've sent him off. He was feeling guilty. I hope the Euro ref is stronger when Arsenal go to OT in the Champs League.

On that penalty decision, the Sunday Times reporter at the game states that even after watching the replay 20 times, you were still unsure about the decision. My 8yo daughter saw it once in real time, on MOTD, and said 'no way dad was that a penalty, Howard Webb is a cheating so and so', or words to that effect.
    So much for unbiased reporting.

He was looking right at it too, not to mention the fact the ball changed direction which clearly indicates the keeper won it. Completely changed the game and Spurs totaly fell apart after that.

    Jammy bastards.

I know this thread is about the Prem, but I must just point out that my Marseille side are playing fantastic right now. 9 wins and 2 draws in their last 11, and a win on the road against the best home side in France today, without 6 starters due to injury/suspension. Lyon 6 points behind with just 5 to play. It's going to come down to the wire with Bordeaux, but allez l'OM!

And for the record, although I am neither for Man U or Liverpool (or any of the big 4 for that matter), that was NOT a penalty yesterday. Completely changed the game, and Sir Alex should be thanking his lucky stars. That game in hand is really going to help Man U out these last few weeks.

This thread is not just about the English prem, but about any relevant soccer in Europe, I hope! Any country is free to join in.
Neither do I support any of the top 4 in England. But I hope neither Manu or Chelsea win it.
My only wish is that Celtic win en Ecosse. :D

I will now look for Marseille to win Ligue_1. Bonne chance. :) Not since 1992!! Hard to believe!

I have been to Paris for PSG v Celtic, and Olympique Lyonnais v Celtic. I have enjoyed my trips to France tres beacoup.

Zenden celebrating his goal on top of an advertising box, falling through it and totaly dissapearing was definately the highlight of the French campaign.

    Newcastle 0-0 Portsmouth.

This was a must win for the Geordies. I watched a full 90mins of Newcastle for the first time this season, and was shocked by what I saw. They deserve to be where they are if they have played like that all season. They need 14 new players at least if they stay up. With away games at L'pool and Villa, I don't see them getting anything there. Home to 'Boro, maybe. Home to Fulham, I'm not so sure. One victory each for Sunderland and Hull should see them safe. I fear for Les Magpies.
With the debt they are in, and the need for new players, going down to the Championship will not be the last of their worries.

    2nd May 2009

Manu win 2-0 away at Middlesbrough. 3 more points towards the title for Manu, relegation looms for 'Boro.

In Scotland, Celtic win away at Aberdeen 3-1. Didn't play at all well. Who cares really?? :D 3pts toward the title, Rangers play tomorrow.

    El Clasico
In Spain's biggest game of the season, Barcelona win 6-2 away to Real in Madrid. Simply a magnificent performance from the Catalans. It could have been 10, easy. Xavi, Iniesta and YaYa Toure in the m'field were terrific. Messi was mesmerising. Henry and Eto played their parts well. What a game!!
Hope they do the same to Chelsea on Wed next week!! :D

Marseille struggling at home to Toulouse, 1-0 down at H/T.
