Pats Picker 2013

Hooman is an OK backup at TE and is also our fullback. That was enough to make the team last year. It should be enough this year, unless Belichick chooses to keep a dedicated fullback.

Why? Neither of them are any good.

Honestly I think Gronk, Sudfeld, Ballard, and Fells represent the optimal depth chart at TE. We'll see.

- Bit light on the OL in terms of numbers but Cannon, Connolly & Svitek all play multiple positions along the line.

- Winn & Sims played themselves into a roster spots last night, Sims also contributed on STs as well as Offense.

- Washington stays for kick returning alone, unless something else shows they can do the job well.

- Adrian Wilson, time to give #24 back to Arrington, buddy, you bought the Diapers for a loan of the jersey.

- Develin is a better blocker than Hooman so can be the teams FB/TE.

SS (2) Ebner, Wilson
FS (3) Gregory, Harmon, McCourty
ST (3) Gostkowski, Aiken, Mesko

With Francis being displaced by Armstrong once he clears PUP.
Only one center because we know Connolly can swing over in case of injury.

Sure, but we will keep 4 DT's, even if the player comes from another team, or comes next week. So, I keep 2 DT's.

I think that either Hooman or Devlin make this team. My choice is Hooman (over Fells).

Finally, I gave in and kept Bolden.

I did not keep either Beauharnais or Ebner. Of course, you may very well be right; but for Beauharnais in a Practice Squad player.

Interesting that you keep Bequette who looks lost out there and slow to react. Ebner seems more versatile to me on ST and as a third safety in a big dime package. I also kept Beauharnais and thought he looked good against the Giants.

Glad this thread was bumped; and though I've made changes, I'll likely make more of them one week from now.

Tebow's "performance" last week, and his non-use at any other position, removes him from the roster.

Blount's been more impressive than Bolden, and Winn could replace Bolden on STs/FB.

David Thomas replaces Dallas Clark on my Move TE #2 wish list; I'll keep Gronk on PUP for now.

Thompkins replaces Jenkins at WR; still would like to see a vet with size here too.

I could in good faith place only 7 OLmen on the roster (the rest suck), so I've saved a spot for
a yet-to-be-named vet C/G (perhaps a healthy Nick McDonald, though I'd rather someone better).

I've also saved a spot for a vet DT, because having both Forston & Grissom is redundant;
Edit: Armstead to PUP/NFI.

Benard's been playing a lot of snaps, Bill likes Francis, and Buchanan wouldn't clear waivers.
Cunnyham to IR and Bequette to PS.

LBs are a no-brainer: Koutou, Rivera & Tarp suck, and Beauharnais wouldn't clear waivers.

Glas-IR stays for now, and Dennard's still not in jail yet.

Neither TWilson nor Harmon has played well enough to remove Gregory, so sadly all 3 stay.
Edit: Ebner is IRed, or waived if he is PS-eligible.

And Mesko has out-played Allen, or Allen has under-played Mesko.

Had Ballard & Fells not already been cut, I would've kept both instead of Gronk (PUP) & Hoohah.
We still need a #2 Move TE, so David Thomas stays too.

I know that Winn's not making the team, but I liked the way he ran Thursday night, so out of respect I'm keeping him here one last time.

We need a backup C/G real badly, and Matt Tennant is as good an option as anyone else.

We also need a backup DT real badly, so Antonio Garay fills the hole for now.

Had Benard not already been cut, I would've kept him instead of Bequette.

Except for one good play, Marquise Cole stunk at CB; Sheldon Brown or a reasonable facsimile
thereof should be added to the mix.

Nice speculative :p roster. I'd personally like to see Winn over Bolden but agree with you and the Captain, he's likely headed to the PS.

One thing that does stand out from this roster projection; just how much DT will likely be a priority in the next draft.

I promise that's an end to the speculation jokes.

Aqib Talib will an UFA. I'm not sold on a pending 34 year old Adrian Wilson.

I am dumbfounded that Forston was cut. Bill now has acheived Absolute Zero depth at DT.
Congratulations.

And while I was no fan of Mesko, especially considering his draft status, I still hoped that
both he & Cunnyham would be kept for one more season, so that when both left as UFAs
next year, we would be one step closer to receiving a compensatory draft pick for the first
time since 2010.

Edit: Francis now gone too. I cannot believe that the putridity of Jake Bequette (Yes I know
I had him on my final 53, but not ahead of Benard or Francis) is making this team.

We have the obvious need to add an OG/C and a DT. BTW, I am not especially surprised that Belichick chose Vellano over the others. Morris should be gone by 4. I haven't seen him on any cut list.

Not especially surprised that Vellano was kept ahead of Forston? Really?
I'm not claiming that Forston is the best backup DT in the NFL, but still...

Vellano actually played reasonably well with the first team in place of Wilfork. That is the test of value, not how well someone plays against scrubs.

The question is "Who Do You Trust" to start if Wilfork or Kelly is injured. Who would you want available if one of them was injured during a game. Belichick chose Vellano for Game One based on how he played this role in the preseason.

So, no.
