- How about Tebow as a future SS? College QB to NFL Safety is not unprecedented.

- Winn over both Blount & Bolden; time to give blocking & character a chance.

- Donald Jones would have replaced Jenkins had he not been released.

- Gronk to PUP, and Dallas Clark to Pats makes too much sense not to happen.

- Bequette's & Buchanan's upsides are greater than those of Cunnyham, Francis, Bernard or Vega,
but may the best 2 win anyway.

- AJ Edds is, as of now, our best coverage LB.

- If the overdrafted Wilson & Harmon show anything at all, then the overpaid & undertackling Gregory
becomes superfluous.

You and I are alone on the George Winn train. Nice.

Similar to my last projection. 8 OL are kept because of positional versatility from the likes of Cannon, Connolly, McDonald... 6 DE may seem heavy, but someone like Francis could work as a sub DT, like Cunningham did last year... Gregory was a tough cut, as he is a veteran, but with A. Wilson in tow, and Gregory's marginal ST value, he was released.

At Tight End, Ballard and Fells could form a "starting tandem" in the mold of Gronkowski (PUP) and Hernandez (Prison)... obviously less effective. Ford and Sudfeld show enough promise to be kept and learn from veterans.

Any of the UDFA WRs, namely Thompkins, Sims, Ashford, and perhaps Harrison, could push Edelman or Jenkins for their spot. Amendola, Dobson, Slater only true locks, while Boyce will probably make it based on draft status.

We've seen what Bolden & Blount provide, both on and off the field. If Winn can compete with them
as a runner, then his other attributes - blocking, STs play, clean record - should make him a legit contender
to become Ridley's backup.

Yes. Absolutely.

For the sake of comparison, here are early projections from Mike Reiss and Field Yates; most notable is that both have Kenbrell Thompkins making the roster over Michael Jenkins:

OP, are you the one who created or manages the Pats Picker? If so, I have a recommendation that I think some (or at least myself) would find useful:

Have a column to the side that sticks whether you're on on the offense or defense/ST tab, called "Bubble Players" or something like that. The theory being you could drag several players from multiple positions and see a pool of players that aren't locks but are among those you could making the team.

Small example, I might put together a roster with 50 players I consider "locks", then I might be Ebner, Cole, Koutivides, Rivera, Edelman, and Beauharnais in the bubble column. In this scenario, I'd be saying these six players are fighting it out for three spots, and the best ST contributors will make it.

Thoughts?

In this case, I would simply list 6-7 STers.

I guess an additional roster spot of "utility player" might help.

Yeah, I saw that too and am glad you brought that up.

Ten defensive linemen seems excessive and three tight ends (even if it is only for the first six games) does not look to be enough.

Bottom of the roster players are going to be counted on to perform on special teams. Those guys are less likely to be linemen and more likely to be tight ends, defensive backs, receivers or running backs.

While having plenty of defensive linemen available to rotate over the course of a game to keep them all fresh is a good idea, I just don't see the point in committing 20% of the roster to those four positions.

The norm is 9 DL's and 5 LB's plus a LB/STer or two. We could go with 8 if we were more of a 3-4 team. Those LB/STer's may need to be corners or safeties this year. Of course, one injury in camp and this won't be an issue.

One month later. Cut Jenkins outright, swap Hooman for Fells, swap Tebow for Mallett, add a 5th RB, swap Cunningham for Bernard, and the surprise cut, Tavon.
