The two teams in on Burgess all along were the Eagles and Pats. Eagles were offering a 3rd-round pick and a player. Pats offer trumped it.
wonder what they gave up.
Sounds like more than what people here want but we're a pass rusher, better secondary and consistent OL from a SB win; pass rusher was the only one of those not potentially on the roster with Crable MIA.according to schefter

Too much, if they trumped that Eagles offer.
Adam Schefter (Adam_Schefter) on TwitterGuessing Pats gave up a 3rd-round pick and a 4th being they traded their 5th to Tampa for TE Alex Smith. Don't forget: NE still has 3 2's.
Or they may have gotten more desperate.Point to ponder: Burgess is due $3.5 million, exactly what the Raiders are paying Ellis. Plus they traded away picks. Ergo the Pats considered him significantly more valuable than Ellis.
If they gave up a 3rd and a 4th, that would be horrible.
I'm told Raiders got more than a third- and fourth-round pick, though nothing confirmed yet. Remember, Pats were scheduled to have 3 2's.
Per Schefter
He can be an 8-12 sack guy, he could be the kind of pass rusher Colvin was in his first few years here; we need that and we're trying to win the SB.If they gave up a 3rd and a 4th, that would be horrible.
i actually wont be surprised if they gave up one of their 3 2's
I wonder if he meant both 2011 picks or 3rd in 2010 and 5th in 2011.

OMG, even worse. The only problem with Burgess is that he gets nicked up a lot. However, when he's on the field, he can really get after the QB. Because he's 30 and somewhat injury prone, a second or 3rd rounder is pretty risky. I just hope this isn't Duane Starks part 2.
