you're right on about Gannon......didn't the pats want to make him a wr or h-back or some such nonsense?
Kolb played his entire high school and college career for the same coach running some funky offense that puts up points against college players, but doesn't do anything to develop a Quarterback's NFL skillset.Honestly, ive never watched Kolb that much, but ive always liked Feely. But what do i know?
What makes you think the two items are mutually exclusive?I liked Pennington last year before he went to the Fins, and everybody told me i was nuts.

Edelman #2 and Walter #3 emergency.funny hah ha ha.
ok, what about this plan?
1. put Hoyer on the PS.
2. have walters as # 2
3. have Edelman as emergency #3
Edelman #2 and Walter #3 emergency.
If Edelman is the emergency #3b he cannot return punts or KOs inthe first three quarters.
As the emergency QB, Walter can still come in early if necessary should Brady get hurt.
I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of Walter on Thursday. Doesn't the #2 usually play most of game 4? He certainly could use more reps in the Patriot offense.A good technical point, though Walter would still be the guy to come in in case Brady got hurt. I wonder how much they like Hoyer? Is Hoyer pretty much assured of getting through to the PS? Would his chances be affected by performance on Thursday? I will be curious to see who plays for how long against the Giants.

So, the options are basically:
QB1 Brady
QB2 Walter
QB3 Hoyer
or
QB1 Brady
QB2 Walter
WR/Oh s***! QB Edelman
PS Hoyer
Kevin Kolb is the Eagles primary backup.
More importantly, and not entirely unfacetiously, Edelman is listed as a WR, not a QB. As others have pointed out, if they want to use Edelman outside of the fourth quarter, they can't put him in the QB3 slot.

And just BTW, Edelman is no more a QB for the patriots than Faulk.
I think that the patriots have usually favored having a developmental 3rd QB on the squad to hold the clipboard and help with game day communication. This QB also helps as the scout QB in practice. This roster spot does not use an active game day spot. As we found rather recently, somethimes these QB's develop and can be traded when their time with the patriots is finished.
I had Hoyer on the Practice Squad when we had developmental QB O'Connell. Now, I favor Hoyer.
