Panthers scare me

Ginn is still in the NFL? Feel bad for Cam Newton.

Ginn is playing the best football of his career right now.

Granted, that isn't setting the bar very high, but I think you'll be surprised at his development.

He's far exceeded the expectations I had for him at the beginning of the year.

He's still as soft as cake. Even threaten him with a big hit and he's tip toeing out of bounds.

As for the Panthers, nobody here should be taking them lightly. Their LB corps is among the best in the NFL, the defense as a whole is absolutely solid, and their strength on offense is our weakness on defense: the run. Add into the equation that the showdown with Manning is the following week and this game spells T-R-A-P.

From what I've seen, Ginn is typically good for one big gain per game on a broken play where Newton eludes the pass rush and scrambles out of the pocket. He's sort of a poor man's Mike Wallace-in-Pittsburgh in that respect. If the Patriots are effective in keeping Newton in the pocket (a huge if, obviously), then Ginn's pretty low on the list of players who worry me. Definitely below Smith, Olsen, an LaFell.

Bengals were fresh of a defeat to the Browns when you played them. They weren't in a groove.

I'm taking from this comment the implication that a team that lost the previous week should be easier to beat the following week.

While that may hold true for sub-.500 teams, I would suggest that is just the opposite for better teams (i.e., winning teams). Those clubs tend to play with more of a sense of urgency, with more of a chip on their shoulder. While sometimes there are extenuating circumstances (e.g., injuries) that lead to a losing streak, generally speaking plus-.500 follow a loss with a win far more often than following it with a second defeat.

Because he is a troll.

GrogansArmy...what relation are you to ManningsArmy...the troll who used to haunt the colts board years ago?

I'm a troll? Lol don't trolls have to post a lot? I rarely post, maybe like 20-30 posts a year. Not being confident about us winning this game does not make me a troll. As for MainningsArmy, no relation. I couldn't think of a name while I was creating an account and Harry Potter was on the tv the part where they create Dumbledore's army and so decided to name it similiar to that. Happy now?

As for the guy who said 'everyone scares you, why make a thread', I'm not sure where you get that from? I don't think I've ever posted before that a team or anyone scared me.

Kuechley is going to end up being the best middle linebacker in the NFL. I think more than anything his presence has transformed their defense into elite status.

Agreed. If guys like David Nelson, Jeff Cumberland etc can be effective vs our pass defense, there's no reason to believe that Ginn can't catch a few key passes also. Having Aqib Talib back should be a big help, as he's now been out 5 weeks if you include the bye.

Having followed him since his college days though, I also agree with Kontradiction who states that he is extremely soft/made of glass. Ginn had lots of potential that he never lived up to, but he's certainly capable enough of making a couple/few key catches that could involve seeing the endzone.

I doubt that too many guys around here would have been fearing the NYJ offensive skill player positions too, along with guys like Jerrico Cotchery. The truth is that this is the NFL, and just about any player can make you pay for a mistake if you don't bring your best game.

Newton has no deep ball?

You do realize Newton was one do the best deep ball passer in the NFL in both 2011 and 2012, right?

No he doesnt, and this is 2013. Just facts. You have no deep attack at all really. We realized your not that much of a offensive threat, and can not survive a shootout. Your front D 7 though are extremely good and win games.

Cam deep passing in win streak
3 attempts 0 catches 1 INT. (Week 5)
4 attempts 1 catch (week 6)
0 attempts (week 7)
4 attempts 1 catch (week 8)
6 attempts 0 catches 2 INT. (Week 9)

I have found your comments to be true, particularly in the world of sportsbetting where we tend to hone in on these things ;)

The better teams in the league generally don't tend to lose back to back games too often, although of course like anything else--it does happen a handful of times throughout the year.

you're a sports bettor??????

I'm.......

I grew up in Youngstown. I'm not sure if you're familiar at all with the goings on of Y-town Ohio, but my father kind of got me into the scene at a young age. While there was good and bad involved (the old man screwed up the marriage to my mom and regularly took out his frustrations on me), it allowed me to fall in love with anything and everything sports related at an extremely young age. Most people in their late 30's from a different part of the country wouldn't remember the 1985 "squish the fish" playoff run too well, but it was actually rooting for the underdog Pats that started my love for the team.

Things are a bit different now with the online sportsbooks, as I think it offers a bit more of a conservative view of things since you have to make a credit card deposit first. You tend to think a little more while you're typing in those numbers, so it's a bit harder to "fall behind" like it was in my old man's day where you could just pick up the phone and place wagers on credit.

At least I know that I won't have to deal with any cousins coming to break my legs for the money etc ;) It's more of just a hobby that allows me to have a little extra excitement throughout the year, but I certainly have learned a ton of rules throughout the past 25-30 yrs or so; and there certainly are "rules" that every sporsbettor should stick to that the average sucker falls for rather easily. Not claiming to be insanely successful with it, it's really just something to do in my spare time, but if you follow some basic rules you can certainly improve your odds a bit.

That's great to hear, neuronet. Have fun and bring us home a "W."
