WTF, rather than listening to the radio and reading about football, the Boston sports world will be captivated by another steroids scandal. Everyone comes out of the woodwork to elaborate their experiences about a friend of a friend who was on the juice. Should we cheer or boo him? Who cares, is a little bit of focus on Foxboro too much to ask?

Wrong furum buddy. Go be miserable somewhere else. Only football players are allowed to ruin the buzz here.

I was thinking the same thing, why even bother to turn on the radio. It will be nothing but ortize took steroides for the next 2-3 weeks.

I don't know how anyone can even be a fan of baseball anymore. It's CONSTANTLY overshadowed by steroid scandals.

It is also the MLB trade deadline, no way the Pats were getting more than a mention on WEEI today.

I think it's funny they talking about the World Series Titles being tainted just like the spygate crap and the Pats Super Bowls. We doing even know what really happened yet ESPN is already jumping conclusions. I hate ESPN.

I agree. WEEI generally doesn't give much more than lip service and the occassional hour here and there to football this time of the year. When the preseason games start, they might get some decent talk about football the day after the game, but this is still mostly Red Sox talk time for much of the end of July/August.

If it wasn't Ortiz, it would be Roy Halladay talk.

Agreed - I'm just PO.ed its overshadowing Patriots camp. Ortiz was on the juice in 2003? Wow, knock me over w a feather. At this point, no one surprises me, especially if we're going back to 2003 when they weren't even testing and there was no penalty for it.

Time to move on and talk football. I am getting really sick of the sport of baseball & the Red Sox, and thats coming from a diehard Sox fan. To me, the Pats are 1, Celts are 2, Sox are 3. But EEI and most of the sporting nation around here doesn't think like that.

I know some Y*****s fans who were crowing about their lead over the Sox.

My response was, "Patriots training camp is now open, so . . . what sport are you talking about?" :p

Yup, same thing Lobel and Co were blathering about all day yesterday. And if it were on now the same thing WBZ would be blathering about. Quit kidding yourself.

First, I never said that it would be any different on any other station. Although WEEI have taken the art of taking a low hanging fruit hot button issue and driving it into the ground by endlessly talking about it day after day. People apparently like it, but I could take it or leave it.

Felger would talk more football because that is his strong point and comfort zone, but I agree they would talk about Ortiz too. Don't know about Tanguay. Toucher and Rich probably would forgo the two and bring in girls to be naked. It is unclear whether WBZ will adopt the WEEI strategy of taking the low hanging fruit and drive it into the ground. I am sure they will do it to a point, but it is unclear whether they will do it more or less.

I am just glad for Ortiz because it stops the WEEI morning show from beating the Crowley/Gates non-sports story into the ground. Without Ortiz, this morning would have been all about the Beer summit even with Callahan out on vacation.

Dude, the football players are on more PEDs than probably any other sports' athletes. It would be naive to think otherwise.

It's just that stats are a more integral part of MLB and people seem to accept the 'roiding in the NFL.

Subscribe to Sirius.. Well worth it!

I'm cheap but let me tell you, it awesome.. The conversations are head and shoulders above anything WEEI could offer..

Ditto! I spend most of the football season listening to Sirius NFL Radio over WEEI or any local station. Even with the talk being all over the place on which team they talk about, the football talk is far more intelligent and thoughtful.

Ok, but I'm not saying anything about NFL players being on steroids or not being on steroids. I'm saying that I find it very hard to be interested in baseball when all they talk about are steroid scandals. NFL players may very well be juicing like crazy, but you don't hear about constantly like you do with baseball.

But then again, with the NFL, all we hear about are players with legal problems, so maybe I shouldn't talk bad about baseball.

    No Jersey Selected

couldn't agree more. seeing sheffield, giambi, knoblauch, pettite, clemens etc. juicing and getting a slap on the wrist, i'd be pissed if no sox were trying to even the playing field. fight fire with fire. it's just part of keeping up with the yankees.

There are probably many more "criminals" in the NFL (just check PFT's "no arrest counter"). There are surely as many if not more 'roiders. Baseball just loves its past, its records,... Truth is that not many NFL fans can list off as many "numbers" related to their sport as MLB fans.

I love both leagues. I just accept the fact that most (if not "basically all") are using.

On the EEI question : there's a lot of WEEI bashing on this forum - but their ratings speak for themselves. They are entertainment. I personally find them entertaining. Truth is : you guys live in an area where baseball is ultra-popular. In the winter, there is lotsa football talk. We can't blame them for talking baseball in the MIDDLE of summer !
