Ok, I've been patient. I've sat through the initial accusations. I listened to the reasonable, logical explanations. I've even read the stupid and ILlogical ounterpoints. I've also had to sit through the noxious mediot frenzy that has somehow turned a pound of air pressure and equated it into the made biggest sports scandel since Barry Bonds and Steroids. But most of all I've waited. waited. I've waited for the NFL to finish its investigation to either clear or condem the Patriots organization for the henious crime of POSSIBLY having one psi too much airpressure. ONE!
Well a here's a clue. Don't hold your breath. Its not going to happen. This is an investigation that could ONLY take 2-3 days, if you tried going slow, and now its well into its 2nd week with no end in sight. Remember the ONLY thing that has to be resolved is IF in the time AFTER the officials gave the balls their final check, did someone from the Pats organization reduce 11 footballs by 1 psi. That's it. You have a situation with a very small finite number of people could have possibly committed the "crime". You have the full weight of a multi-billion dollar organization who has the resources to commit the finest investigators this country has to offer, to solve this "mystery" that has almost no motive, opportunity, or shows evidence of a crime. Far from it, but that's beside the point.
The question here isn't WHAT the league has found or not found, the REAL question is WHY hasn't the league come down with a discision at all! I'll tell you why. Because Goodell in all his dillusionary stupidity has decided to declare war on the Patriots and Bob Kraft. Its the only conclusion I can come to for them not to be able to complete an investigation this simple. He doesn't want an answer this week. He wants no possible way for the Pats to climb out of the morass he has sent them through will all the obvious "league leaks". He wants a permanent stain to detract from a possible Pats win (and that's something to discuss later).
Will there be one? Of course there will. What will say? Nothing of course. A week or so after the game, they will come out with something like this.
In other words: "We both 'know' they did it, but we just don't have the evidence to convict them, but we'll get those dirty cheaters eventually, you can be sure of that". Whatever they say, you can be sure that it will be worded in such a way that it will support every hater's vision, even it technically clears the Pats.
Clearly Goodell thinks the Pats have grown too big for the mediocrity his trying to build into the league. Bob Kraft, as an owner, has grown into someone who is viewed by many as a first among equals. Someone who's viewed with a much higher positive rating than he is...and needs to be taken down. When you are as dilusional as Roger Goodell, you can't have someone like Bob Kraft be seen like that....especailly after he thought he'd taught them that lesson in 2007
So once again he is fully willing to damage the "shield" as whole in order to rid himself of a perceived rival to his dominance. Now understand that the fact that he's probably hanging on to his job by thread, after muliple previous disasters, has no relelvance here. Did I mention he was dilusional?
So at this point, I'm sorry, I already know what's going to happen here. The cloud is going keep raining on the Pats right up through the game. At the game there will be a series of a few calls or non-calls that will always seem to go against the Pats. If that happens , unless the Seahawks play a simply horrible game, the Pats are going to lose. Think about it. Just take 2 calls that "COULD" be called PI, and call them on one team and not on another and see what a difference that makes. Do the same with 2 offfensive holding calls, and the refs can seriously affect the balance of a game without ever making a so-called contraversial call (not that they can't do that either)
So if you couldn't tell, I'm pretty down right now. As much as I try, its very hard to see any kind of positive outcome here, even if by some miracle we win the game. The only reason to even watch the game now is that I don't want to be alone, and the Pizza is half price during the game at the bar I go to.
As far as the NFL goes, I will have nothing with it or its so call "Shield" ever again as long as Roger Goodell is even tangentally connected to it. Somehow, I will try to figure out a way I can support the Patriots without supporting the the NFL as a whole. I'm not sure how to do that, except maybe to occasionally be come a lurker here now and then. Perhaps I'm better off following the local HS team and offer to help to fill my "football jones".
But if Roger Goodell has decided to declare war on the Pats, then I'm declaring war back in the only way I know how. I'll be around the rest of the week, to see how it turns out, and if by some miracle the Pats win, I'll probably write a post as a paean to that effort because it truly would be a historic one to over come the obsticles I suspect the league will continue to set before it
BTW- if you feel like I might have finally gone round the bend. Feel free to tell me. I only hope and pray you are right.

.After an exhaustive and extensive investigation (worthy of the Warner Report), the NFL could not find any diffinitive evidence that could absolutely prove the New England Patriots illegally tampered with the footballs prior to the AFCCG. Now because the NFL is so completely committed to the integrity of the game we will continue to look into this because we don't want this kind of inequity to happen again in our beloved game
