One fewer stutter steps before accelerating. And his acceleration is top drawer, among the best in the league. He's below average at making people miss, but if he can continue to reduce the time it takes him to decide on a path and accelerate into it, he's a good back. A little below average for a starting NFL back (there are a lot of very good ones out there now).
Taylor averaged 1.5 yards per carry tonight for a total of 5 yards.
Maroney ran behind players that might get a chance to play in a real NFL game if the 4 people in front of them get hurt.
I continue to be amazed by the abyssmal ignorance displayed by sports reporters. Kaczur on PUP for example and worse yet the Maroney cut hysteria. If there is one RB whose stock plummeted last night it was bjge who turned a TD into an embarrasing stop, not that one play should determine anyon's fate (q.v. Brady's underthrow TD that became an INT)
he was playing right with his talent level either way.Fixed your post for you.
Agreed, but I don't totally blame BJGE for the stop on the 2ft line. The backside blocking wasn't good enough on that play. However a more talented, powerful runner like Corey Dillon, Emmit or LT in his prime may have gotten though....
Someone faster, like an average NFL RB could have scored. No Dillon level power needed.

Not even Dillion would have gotten through, getting horsecollared like that.
Did you even see the horsecollar that took him down from behind??
I can't see Maroney getting cut. Even though his numbers don't show it, he's our most talented running back.
IIRC BJGE was tripped up on the 4th and 1 run.
I think the horsecollar was another play???
