NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports free agent Corey Dillon "is receptive" to the idea of returning to the Patriots.
Schefter says Dillon would be open to playing for a playoff bound franchise, and also lists Green Bay as a possible destination. The Pats have a need at backup running back with Sammy Morris having landed on season ending injured reserve. Even if Dillon signed tomorrow, however, his immediate impact would likely be minimal. It's uncertain what kind of shape he's in.
Dillon was slow as molassas last season after a full TC and likely a good off season effort to regain his prior form. Off the couch? I don't think so. And if his agent is intimating that Corey might also be interested in another playoff bound team desperate for RB help like GB, he's just angling for an offer he hopes might lure his client off that couch.
Morris was gravey in this offense. We will just adapt to always running up the score through the air. And who can blame us now that we know we are a little thin at RB...
