I was a big fan of him early on in 2012. I root for the Bucs when they aren't playing the Pats(don't like them anywhere near as much as the Pats though) so I kind of follow them. I loved the never quit attitude he installed with the trying to force the fumble on the kneel downs.
They in '11 they lose their last three regular season games and squeak into the playoffs at 9-7 too, again, get hot all the way to the SB where they (yet again) got lucky and pulled out another narrow victory.
Yes, I should have said, they're good enough to pound the pretenders like the Tebow Broncos, Texans, and Colts, but once they get to the AFCCG and Super Bowl, they'll wet themselves, even against the stinky 2013 Broncos defense or the mediocre NYG twice.
What is your fascination with McDaniels? What does he do well other than ride the coattails of his all-time great QB? He bombed out in Denver and St Louis. Does he make good adjustments? No, if a team starts off well against his gameplan, he can't do anything. His brilliant gameplan in the Broncos game was to attack their secondary with the pass even though the Pats had no good receivers. He sucks.
Umm......the 2011 NY Giants playoff wins:
Beat the 10-6 Atlanta Falcons
Beat the 15-1 Green Bay Packers on the road
Beat the 14-3 San Francisco on the road
Beat the 15-3 New England Patriots in the SB
What the HELL are you talking about? If you're going to diminish playoff performance and tell us regular season performance is the ultimate criteria, then I hope you enjoy The Peyton Manning Experience.
It's not that I have a fascination with McDaniels, although I do think he's a top flight O.C.. It's that I hate sloppy thinking. Saying his offenses don't score in the playoffs is a clear example of this, because it's obviously not true, and it's something that's easy to check. Also, saying he bombed as a H.C. in Denver, or as an O.C. in St. Louis is misleading, at best, because it ignores a host of factors.
yeah, you're right. those impressive playoff wins override all of the previous mediocrity and make the 2011 NYG one of history's most dominant SB winning teams. Right up there with the '85 Bears.
You probably consider Eli Manning elite as well, based on the fact he quarterbacked all of those impressive post season wins in '07 and '11. Well, good for him. He got hot when it counted and has won two SB's. But it's not crazy to think of Eli as a mediocre qb that caught fire at just the right time and got lucky, just as it isn't crazy to think the same of his football team. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Too bad it had to be against the NEP.
Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. Right?
You're entitled to believe whatever you want. But you're not entitled to immunity from criticism, and you also aren't entitled to having ridiculous opinions taken seriously.

Hey been swamped with work so haven't been following, so sorry if this is old news:
James Christensen @NEPatriotsDraft 1m
RT @ChrisFedor: Nothing finalized with Michael Lombardi yet but it's looking like he may be headed back to New England.
What the heck would he do in NE? Lombardi could be good, but Caserio is excellent.
Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up with the same job that Floyd Reese used to hold, working in contract negotiations.
Wouldn't that be a huge step backwards for Lombardi? Maybe BB expects Caserio to bail in the near future.

It's a major step back from last year, but not from the year before that (when he was writing for NFL.com and most well known for his frequent guest appearances on Bill Simmons' podcast). If he can't get another GM job right away--and it stands to reason that he can't--then a year in New England is no worse than any of the alternatives.
You could be right, though. After the Dolphins interviewed Caserio this year, it could be that the Pats are preparing for the possibility that he leaves. In that case, Lombardi is a pretty sensible hire.
But even if that's not the case, I think it sorta makes sense from Lombardi's perspective to come here. Spend a year or two working with the Pats, be part of an organization that's reeling off 12+ win seasons, and in a year or two people will have mostly forgotten what happened at the last stop before this one. Worked for Dom Capers, seems to be working for McDaniels, and would probably work for Lombardi too.
