The obvious answer is that Hoyer is the more experienced QB that has won in this league with crappy teams. With that said in the games I have watched, he seems to go in these funks. So we obviously have some first hand exposure to this QB battle so who do you think is better and should win the starting job?
I always liked Hoyer when he was here. I thought he would be a solid starting QB at some point. I never liked Mallett. Didn't like him in college and thought he was a lousy fit for the Patriots' system. That said, I found Hoyer's performance last year to be disappointing. He made a lot of bad decisions with the ball, and that surprised me. Still though, other than Mallett's great arm, there's nothing about the guy that impresses me. I'd go with Hoyer, but only because the other options are so poor.
hoyer started out pretty well, but he didn't have much weapon and teams kinda figured him out. he is a competitor, but just doesn't have an adequate talent. he just screams a career backup.
mallett is one of those starting material who didn't pan out. mallett is just too mistake prone with a lousy footwork. and when you top that with a suspect accuracy then you have a major issue. if i had randy moss, starting mallett makes sense because of vertical ability. for now, i would go safe with hoyer because he will win you some games and will eventually flame out. and then you can go with mallett with no pressure.
