IF Revis is released, i think we need to make a hard push for this guy. Our SB teams had Law, Asante, etc... A shutdown physical corner who is a future HOF to go along with Talib would allow BB to do some unique and fun things on defense. These talents don't come around too often and i would love to see him as a Patriot. We have a chance next year, if healthy to be a top 10 defense, with Revis we could be #1. Give TB a #1 ranked defense and we win the SB.
We're not in a great salary cap position at the moment, and even though we have somewhere around 3.5 to 4 million available in cap space, we have a TON of our own free agents to try and sign over the next 14 months or so. Talib, Edelman, Blount, Wendell, Connelly, Cannon, Wilfork, Solder, Gregory, Vereen, Ridley, Bolden, Kelly, and 5th yr options due to Chandler Jones, Hightower, etc.
I'd have a difficult time imagining Bill Belichick being able to afford ANY outside free agent player on either side of the ball that would cost 6-8 million, let alone the 10-12 million that Revis would probably cost. He's making 16 million dollars this year, so it's pretty likely that he'll be forced to take a pay cut, but he's used to making a lot of money, and with so many teams having sufficient cap space, someone will most likely give him a good deal.
On top of that, we recently have drafted some very cheap, rookie pact players in Dennard, Logan Ryan, etc; along with possibly paying Aqib Talib approx. 5-6 million dollars a year too. They also just signed Arrington to a very nice deal of 4 yrs/16 million. Where would they all play?
