PATRIOTS NEWS Isaiah Bolden Update Thread

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
A little over a wk ago I was involved in a car accident that left me in the ICU for 4 days. If you were to look at me, you’d have no idea. It was a violent crash from behind that left me with no visible injuries. Within moments of being taken out of the car, I was unable to walk under my own power. That night I was told by the Neuro specialist that based on the type of injuries I had and the way my body was responding, I’d be very lucky if I ever walked again. Fast forward two days later and with the use of a walker and someone holding me up, I was able to travel 25 ft and back. Here we are now, and with a walker I’m able to walk myself with no assistance to the restroom. I’m getting stronger by the day. Was told I have spinal shock and my nerves are all jacked up. I still have a lot more going on and have now been told the chances of me getting back to 100% are slim but they were wrong before and I’m going to make them wrong again. Anyways, I’m not trying to make this about me but all I could think about with Bolden was the battle he has ahead of him. Doctors and specialists try their best, but many times they have no idea how the body is going to respond. Within our great organization, he is going to have top of the line medical care and great emotional support from all the players, coaches and specialists. It’s my hope that his situation is the same as mine. Dire initially but surprising recovery. Take your time resting and healing young man. Keep your head up, be patient and fight yourself to recovery. I think I speak for all of us in saying we have high hopes for him on the field and even higher hopes for him off of it.

It looked pretty bad. Glad it seems it is not as bad as it looked from the updates. Wish him speedy recovery.

My sympathies!

I know a bit about this kind of thing and I think you're right. If something essential isn't cut, broken or mashed up it's surprising how much you can, with time and dedication, rehabilitate. It's clear you've got that commitment. Good luck to you!

Holy crap - crazy. Sounds like you have a decent chance of a good recovery, and we all hope you do. God luck man, and yes, definite parallels to Bolden.

No surprise. Bolden is in concussion protocol.

Isaiah Bolden placed in the NFL's concussion protocol

Also, something I’ve been wondering. Bolden’s tackling on plays earlier in the game seemed charitably described as mediocre. On the play he was injured it seemed he didn’t take the opponent‘s body but was off to the side trying to arm tackle. So I’ve been wondering if his exposure to injury on that particular play was increased by poor tackling form?

Bolden is a rookie who is competing with Bryant, Wade and Speed.

I agree that he has lots to learn,
