When Patriots right guard Russ Hochstein abrubtly hooks left, well before the Brady 4th & 1 snap in the final minutes of Monday's game, he leaves an open highway for the Ravens defensive left tackle to throttle Pats fullback Heath Evans almost as he receives the handoff from Tom Brady. Had Hochstein held his position and not false-started, the Pats would have easily gained a first down as tight end Kyle Brady (on the left flank) and LT Matt Light have already done their job in front of Evans, by opening a gap for Evans, off left tackle, to enable Evans to lunge forward for 3 + yards.

Don't buy into the notion that the Pats were dead in the water had the Hochstein false start not occured. It would have been Patriots 1st and 10 on the next play.

dont buy into the timeout play either. brady said today that when he heard the whistle, everyone relaxed, and he just rolled over.

Is Neal the starter at that RG position and is he banged up or does Hochstein come in for particular drives? I noticed Hochstein, not Neal, was featured on that bow arrow piece ESPN ran before the game.

IIRC, In the Pats/Titans playoff game in 2003 a false start penalty negated a Bruschi INT. Instead of Pats ball the titans converted and ended up scoring a TD. Of course the game came down to the wire.

Amazing how you know all this. If that RT doesn't get over to block the Ravens D-Lineman, your theory gets blown to pieces, as that D Lineman gets to his spot in time to meet Evans, and ring up the loss.

Brady was tongue in check. The TO WAS signaled for, but the ref came running in after the play was all but over. I know you must know Brady was clowing.

no he wasnt tongue in cheek. he interviewed today and talked about it for several minutes. he said the whistle was clear as day, everyone heard it, and that they held up halfway through the play. he was dead serious and not joking at all. just because everyone laughed at him at the postgame press conference doesnt mean it was a joke

Again, amazing how people can go ahead and carry out plays that never happened. Oh, the whistle blew, otherwise, I would have had it. How the F*CK does he know? Ravens were there and clogged it, and certainly your O-Line was not dominating the game. Who knows what would have happened??

What happened was we won the @#$%ing game; I know that jerks a knot in your ass because had we lost, and I'm sure you're praying for a loss this weekend and also one vs the Giants, you stool samples would have HFA for the playoffs.

1.) The defensive coordinator.... the guy who actually, you know, called the play..... that guy didn't think the play he called would work.

2.) The quarterback of the opposing team...... the guy who was there in the trenches when both whistles were blown, he apparently felt that he would have gotten the first down.

Thank goodness a Colts Troll could be here to set those clowns straight.

I don't give a **** what he "felt". If he heard the GD whistle, why didn't he stand up and spike the f*cking ball, or back out and kneel?? Now, think before you speak, because remember, you can't say "well, what if he THOUGHT he heard the whistle, but it wasn't from the refs"? Cause if he THOUGHT this, then he would have TRIED for the first, as it appears he DID.

    Pure Speculation!

Regardless, the Patriots won the game and that's all that matters!

actually, if you saw the quote, he clearly gave a wry smile immediately after the sentence and returned the laughter of the press corps... he got stuffed, and no one on the line, nor Brady, "relaxed"...
