In his current capacity, Borgonzi supervises and directs the club's college and professional scouting operations while closely supporting and advising General Manager Brett Veach with the club's roster management and player acquisition via the NFL Draft, NFL free agency, street free agency, waiver claims and trades.​

Prior to his current role, Borgonzi spent one year as Director of Football Operations. He then took on the entirety of the Director of Player Personnel position in 2017 after serving alongside current Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach as Co-Director of Player Personnel for two years (2015-16).​

The Chiefs are not the best at drafting though.

They only find 1 or 2 players per year.

A lot of high picks have busted, like Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore, Brian Cooks, Edwards-Helaire, Breeland Speaks, Derek Nnadi. That's only in the last several years.

Having Mahomes is a huge win for their scouts, and it papers over a lot of misses

In 2016, Peters was named the Broncos director of college scouting after spending two seasons as the team's assistant director of college scouting (2014-15). Peters spent three years as a national scout (2011-13) after originally joining the Broncos as a regional scout in 2009.​

As a member of Denver's personnel department, Peters helped the team acquire 27 players through the draft and college free agency that were vital members of the Super Bowl 50 championship roster.​

Peters joined the Broncos after spending six years (2003-08) with the New England Patriots. Bringing Peters in, with his previous ties to the team, would put unrealistic expectations on him

I'd be more amenable to this idea if he were still working in a front office somewhere... I fear he might be too rusty to jump right into our GM's chair at this stage of his life... Besides, he might be more willing to keep incompetent, hold-over succubi in the building such as Al Groh's kid, Steve Cargrille, Judge Joey & Cant Assford for "continuity" reasons... unless Bill does us a Huge favor and takes All 4 of them with him to Atlanta or LA to join McD, Stevie & Brian...

While I understand the sequence, GM first and then HC, normally the GM search takes a little longer and we need to hire a HC to learn the Pats culture and starting the preparation for next season as soon as possible before the good names are out of the market, there is a lot of job openings right now.

If Harbaugh becomes available and starts interviewing you sign him and look for a GM around that.

I always thought of Bill as the HC so I was not even thinking about this. For this year at least, getting the GM right is even more important than the coach because for once we have a very high pick.

The 3rd pick and whatever we do at QB will either put us on the right path or set us back at least 4 more years.

Sure the 3rd pick is important but it's really every pick in every round

I think they are probably going to take some power for themselves and probably let the new HC run it with Groh and/or Wolfe with them answering to Kraft and Kraft Jr.

I really hope they hire someone first and let them pick the coach but I'll believe it when it happens.

I still want Absolutely Nothing to do with Al Groh's kid OR fellow hack Steve Cargrille in this New front office IN ANY CAPACITY WHATSOEVER.
As a matter of fact, these two incompetent ****ing toadies should be the Very First people FIRED by ownership, even before a New GM is hired!
The next pair to be Fired should then be Judge Joey & Cant Assford.

I hear you, but remember that Bobby Grier stuck around in 2000 for the draft work, and Belichick made them work on all positions even QB, so he was the one who did the in depth research on Brady (no other pro team reached out to Michigan about him). Belichick still was the one responsible for selecting him though. Point is, new GM can and should leverage the work Groh has already done and find a use for him in the short-term, just without any ultimate authority.
