Gillette attendance after Brady & Belichick retire.

Yeah, we get it, you created this thread to attack other people and project your superiority, classic symptoms of having an inferiority complex.

Yet you ARE looking down your nose at others, namely those you call "pink hats".

And you're spending your time projecting a bunch of bad seasons for the team you claim to be a dedicated fan of, instead of just enjoying what they are right now ( the team with the best ever coach and the best ever QB ) and not considering that whatever succession plan BB is putting into place might work out just fine.

Let’s face it Bandwagon boy, you would have never seen Brady play or Belichick coach in person if they were still playing at Schaeffer.

We know you wouldn’t rough it through the muddy parking lot & then sit on those uncivilized aluminum bench seats.

Your just a pink hat in denial.

Do you have any other move than name calling? This is getting old.

You didn’t support the Patriots at the gate after one trip to Schaefer because of muddy parking lots & aluminum bench seats.

That statement alone proves you are not a dedicated fan. It is people like you that made me create this thread.

You shouldn’t be talking about “looking down your nose at people”. You sound like what I would imagine the club seat “pink hat” fan would say if asked about Schaeffer.
You can't blame him for being cranky...I'm just glad he got home in one piece.

...and there's only one 'f' in - oh never mind

Holy cow - God willing - I'll be 67 by then...but the site will hopefully still be here
I'll be 77...boy I hope I'm retired by then

a real fan should be a fan in every kind of stadium in every weather conditions...
i have been to the Super Bowl in Minneapolis and i faced both: real brutal weather for all days and awesome 'warm' stadium

back to Foxboro i would have enjoyed a lot to be a fan at Schaefer-Sullivan Stadium like @ Gillette Stadium : THE SAME... no difference at all and i have been in MANY STADIUMS all over...

The larger issue is passion for local sports teams in our region of the world coupled with the cash cow for the NFL... the season ticket list may be shorter, but the sellouts will continue.. prices will remain high.

BB will always be involved with this team in some administrative capacity, he will name his successor and be involved in the evaluation of players and philosophies for the Patriots..

There will never be another #12, but there will be a qb who will be serviceable and see nothing but winning seasons in the future...

This team will remain owned by the Kraft family and there is already a hierarchy and succession in place for the future..

What is being done here will never be duplicated in the NFL, never mind by the Pats... so enjoy this ride and drink the koolaid in large quantities..

I doubt that very much. When he's done I think he's going to surprise people and totally walk away from the game. And even if he doesn't, I don't think he'll do anything like that. I think what he really loves is the day-to-day, face-to-face coaching and does the front office stuff because it is necessary to his overall plan, not because he likes it all that much.

I tend to agree but I do think he enjoys the team building and the mechanics/economics of it but probably not as much as the actual football stuff. Plus the Press and those management weasels who don't LOVE the game. He's gone gone gone when he goes out the door....just hope he pens a tome or two. His storytelling is Grade A stuff.

Actually, your original statement was:

I note the lack of qualifiers such as "if" that you've now added.

I'm glad so many of you have such rosy memories of the pre-Kraft era. For some of us, our memories of a game at Schaefer Stadium are more along the lines of parking in a pile of mud wondering if we'd get our car out after the game, then working our way through seas of drunken fans ready to fight if you looked at them the wrong way, on our way to parking our warm butts onto a cold aluminum bench. I went once back then and had no interest in going back for the Pats or any other event till that place was blown up and rebuilt.

Point being, there's lots of reasons why people didn't support the Pats of the pre-Kraft era. Yes, part of it was the bad team, and another part of it was the bad owner just barely one step ahead of bankruptcy, and the bad junior college grade stadium, and no real tradition to get behind, and the crowd that had more than a few angry drunks ready to throw down.

And of course you're entitled to your opinion that Boston sports fans are fair weather fans, despite lots of evidence that they're not. I don't know why you feel the need to make the assertion, but knock yourself out.

I had one of the worst experiences ever while attending a game at Schaefer stadium in the 70's. The atmosphere at that place was horrendous and probably had a lot to do with the fans' lack of interest.

Unlike you I enjoyed the old stadium and have a lot of great memories.

The Sullivans were not as good at business as the Krafts, but they also didn’t hoard the super bowl tickets in 1985. The allowed every season ticket holder to purchase tickets for the Super Bowl.

Kraft allocates tickets to the pink hat club seats tickets holders the vendors and to his high priced Super Bowl trips. He gives priority to the high priced club seats over the people in the blue seats who have supported the team for decades.

Unlike you, I didn’t need a new stadium to support the Patriots.

My first game was in 1973 vs the Bills.
I got to see OJ the year he had 2,003 yards in a 14 game season.

I also remember the opening game in 1979 vs the Steelers. The games back then were at 9pm & the gates opened at noon. Yes there were a lot of drunks and a lot of fights, but I choose to remember a great game that the Lost in overtime 16-13.

The Sullivans tried to address the drunks. For a few years they only sold LA “low alcohol” beer. You probably didn’t know that because you were worried about the drunks and did not support the team at the gate because of the aluminum bench seats.

I wish my experiences at the stadium in the 70's were as good as yours. The combination of drunken jeteholes and lack of security made it a poor experience for me.

Yikes! When were you born, youngster?

The New England Patriots already had a world-wide fan base by 1984. The newbies/babies this century were brought on board mostly by Pats fan parents; and--they can't really be blamed for accepting all the B.S. denigration of the team, since it's a) blasted into our faces by the media constantly, and b) totally accepted and not disputed at all by the current owner.

We diehard Pats fans go out each day wearing our Pat Patriot hats and mention our preference for it whenever possible. The Brady era is filled with great, successful football memories dressed in ugly fake uniforms.

The first 33 years of the Patriots are filled with treasured, irreplaceable memories of triumph, defeat, happiness, tragedy, humorous and unique events and on field heroes that are distinctly more compelling and lovable than other franchises that won titles during the same period.

I had one of my Pat Patriot stocking hats on at the doggy park the other day. Considering it's April I was hoping to wear my Pat Patriot hat instead.

One thing that I think may be overlooked concerning attendance is the mere fact that there are so many more people living in NE now vs the 60's. There's a much larger group of fans for all teams to draw from.

True, BUT, he has family working with the Pats and he'll probably still be around.

I think it's really admirable that many fans can make the sacrifices in terms of time, money, risk, discomfort, etc and get to the stadium and have a great time supporting their team. On the other hand, I don't like the implication that this is the only way one can be a 'real fan' and that those who do have the means and opportunity and preference to be at the stadium seem to need to project superiority over those who don't. Get over yourselves. You're happy to be at the stadium, and that's great. You don't need to make yourself into some sort of class of super humans because of it.

I am not sure why it was a bad experience, but I would be willing to guess it was far more than a muddy parking lot or the aluminum bench seats.

I had my share of incidents with drunks at both stadiums. The Sullivans did try to curb the drinking by only serving LA “Low Alcohol” beer after a Monday night came vs the Cowboys in the early 80’s.

Now Kraft has a system now where you can text security. I had my 7 year old with me at a 1 pm game about 4 years ago. There was a guy behind me who was drunk as a skunk & was yelling 4 letter words at the opponent and anyone who asked him to shut up. The women next to me texted security & when they did not show up, I texted security. I gave the exact seat location of the drunk. When security arrived they wanted to know who called them & why. I spoke up & pointed out the drunk. He was drunk enough to be taken into protective custody. After I spoke up a few other people also mentioned his language. Security was totally useless & just warned the drunk to keep it down. When security left, I overheard the drunk tell his friends he was going to get me after the game. I turned around and warned his friends that the season ticket holder was going to lose his tickets if this jerk kept it up.

I am a big guy & this drunk put no fear in me, but it did put fear in my 7 year old. The clowns buddies came down hard on him & he left at half time. I understand that if the drunk was escorted from the stadium when we notified security. Kraft would have lost the sale of a few $10 beers.

I only take my children to 1pm games. I would never take them to a prime time game at either stadium.

I have encountered drunks at both Gillette & Schaefer/Sullivan/Foxboro stadium.
I also have enjoyed the games at both stadiums.

When Larry Bird was in his prime the Celtics played at the old Boston Garden. The old Garden didn’t have air conditioning, was dirty & had obstructed view seats that showed about 1/4 of the court.

I didn’t go to enjoy the abieance of the Garden. I went to see Celtics. At the time they had a 50 year season ticket waiting list. I use to go the second day tickets were on sale because they only had obstructed seats left at that point. I would buy a couple $9 obstructed view seats to 10 games at a cost of $180.

I would never go to those seats, instead I would stand at mid court behind the stadium seating. The view was great, but we had to stand. I didn’t care, because I was there to enjoy the game, not the stadium.

Feel free to call yourself a real fan, for only going to games when it is sunny, the parking lot is not muddy and the seats are comfortable.

You have that right and we have the same right to laugh.

The clown must have been a visiting Jete fan . Security needs to come down harder on those damn Jete fans and any ST that sells their tickets to a Jete fan needs to have them revoked.

My rule of thumb for taking the kids to Pats games remained unchanged from one stadium (and generation) to the next. 15 or over for 1:00 games and 18+ for anything else. Once they were out of diapers I never hesitated taking them to Fenway or the Garden.

Well stay the f@cck off of his lawn and maybe he will stop yelling at you.

Question is, who retires first? Brady or Bill ?

If Garapollo hadn't been traded I would have said Brady. Now? I think they leave at the same time, or Bill leaves first if Brady somehow actually does do the "play 'til 45 thing". (Personally, I think Brady is done after the end of the 2019 season.)
