Garrett Gilbert backup QB???

Someone mentioned this on the talk shows yesterday and got me to thinking, short money for a guy who is somewhat familiar with out offense. Shudder to think if Edelman is the only option.. do not like the idea of showcasing his QB prowess...

Gilbert was with the Pats during the last Superbowl run and could be a placeholder for a week or so.. some familiarity with the offense and the way the Pats do business..

I think they are going to roll the dice this week with what they have.

I have a feeling Jimmy will back up Brissett in an emergency situation. If he is close to playing next week like we are hearing then he can definitely just come in and hand the ball off. Edelman would be the guy after that if an absolute disaster takes place.

At this point I don't think they want to burn a roster spot or extra cash for just one or two weeks.

We have 3 QBs, 2 of whom are healthy and 1 of whom is injured with a seemingly good prognosis.

QB depth doesn't seem to be a big issue other than over the next 2 weeks.
