If we get Moss 5 rings maybe we can argue he is better than Rice. :D

Re: 2nd best WR ever is Randy Moss

IMO, especially after his 2007 season, him being ranked #2 all time should be fairly easy considering he's compiled his numbers over just 10 seasons and just turned 31. Of course, if you're like many nfl fans and unable to analyze Moss the player objectively because of the exaggerated negative media press that he's same crazy cancerous TO type, who he's nothing like, then he isnt even worthy of HOF consideration and should be out of the league, lol.

Seriously though, his numbers are mind boggling. He's played 10 seasons, made 7 probowls(should be 8) and has had over 1000 Yards in 8/10 seasons, and 1300+ Yds in 7 of those 8. Of the 2 years he failed to eclipse 1000 Yds, in 2004 he was essentially injured for 5 games but still got an extremely impressive 13 TDs, and in 2007 when he also played on a team with the worst QB, worst Oline, and worst coaching, but to be fair where he also quit on the team, one of the few legitimate wrongs he's done imo.

He's even more impressive when you look at the ridiculous TD numbers he has compiled over a short timespan. To put Moss' TD numbers into perspective, TO is imo a top 5 alltime WR, but his best TD season, 16 for SF in 2002, would be FOURTH among Moss is 10 seasons. The comparisons to other guys of his era like a Steve Smith or Chad Johnson are even more staggering, to the point that they're really not in the same stratosphere. For example Chad Johnson, who is obviously a great WR, has hit double digit TDs just once in his career, and just barely when he had 10 in 2003. Comparitively Moss has done that in 7/10 seasons, including seasons of 23, 17, 17, and 15, the first 3 being in the top 10 all time for a WR, something even Jerry Rice, who has 2 top 10 TD seasons, hasnt done. If not for Jerry Rice, we would be calling Randy Moss a statistical freak everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.

Honestly, I think he needs at least one ring, preferably 2, before being put in such esteemed company. I know it's not all under his control, but to me the "best" have to win it all.

Good article, I mostly agree. Haven't seen much Don Hutson, though. ;)

Re: 2nd best WR ever is Randy Moss

I tend to agree with that. But really, looking at that list, who do you put ahead of him based on that crtieria? Irvin. Hutson to me was so long ago, it was just a different game.
How many receivers have their been that were instrumental in their teams winning SBs? (As well as being an all-time great producer)
Its a short list. Irvin, John Stallworth, Rice of course. Not much else. I cannot think of more than a handful of SB Champs where a WR was one of their 5 best players.
I am 100% on board with the idea that QBs are judged first on Championships, because they are typically the most instrumental guy in winning it. I think its a good barometer for guys who are the 'leader' of their defenses that Championships are a big factor. I think at RB, before about 1980 teams lived or died on the running game, and a requirement of must win a SB to be in the argument was valid, but today, its less valid.
At WR, there just seem to be very few guys who were 'the reason' or 'a reason' for winning titles.
My overall impression is that if you are the guy or one of the guys that you win because of or lose because of then winning championships is a huge requiremenmt in ranking the best, but QB and stud defensive guy seems to be what the list is limited to.

And we got him for a 4th round pick. How about that? There's some evidence of the Raiders' abilities to maintain a good team these days, huh?

I disagree, but I respect your opinion. Let's both hope that Randy does not go the way of the Marino. Let's go ahead and get him his Championship this season and put all that No Superbowl crap behind him. :)

His only back up would be that of which drives most SD fans, Jealousy and Hate.

    Too bad.

That's what I'm talking about! And I do know that my opinion is very debatable.
