Yes, this is technically a rematch of Super Bowl XXXIX, but only because the history books say so.

    Bob--good article, but one thing:

The biggest thrashing in NCAA history might be the one you mention, but the worst thrashing of all time was actually a 1916 game "between" Georgia Tech and Cumberland College.

I'm not certain BB is even phased by Spygate and the cries of cheating. If he is it doesn't fit into a reasoning for scoring as much as possible. Being the historian that he is, BB covets the thought of being in NFL history books as the coach of the team that broke the record for breaking records in one season. There are no bad "other" teams here. They are just a means to attain a goal and the team feels it. How can they not? BB is taking us on a trip that's very special. Dominance of this magnitude is rare, maybe even uheralded. If this season plays out as predicted, we are some of the luckiest fans in the world and the phrase wait until next year takes on a whole new meaning.

Yes, in 1916 GA Tech beat Cumberland College, 222-0. The 100-7 win by Houston over Tulsa is the most between two Division I schools. Cumberland College was a lower division small college which had dropped football a few years prior, and was resurrecting it in 1916. IMHO it was more noteworthy for Houston to score 100 against Tulsa than it was for GT to run up 222 points against a defenseless and depleted NAIA Cumberland team. The baseball team also currently competes in the NAIA and won the NAIA World Series in 2004.

Point well taken, but Cumberland is no Tulsa.

Remember McNabb's stupid comments after sygate saying "give us our rings back"? Well, you think the Pats forgot about that? Hell no. This is the beginning of the real run up the score games. Wrath is the exact word to use here. You nailed it on the head. Wrath is exactly what the Eagles are going to have to face. I wouldn't doubt to see some extra blitzing so McNabb can take a big hit here and there.

    Great article ...

    >>>>Right tackle Jon Runyan is still there on the offensive line, but Hank Fraley and Tra Thomas are gone.<<<<

Actually, Thomas is still there, he just calls himself William "Tra" Thomas now and he had limited participation in practice this week.....

    >>>>>Because of all the vorating the Eagles have done regarding the league needing to award Super Bowl XXXIX to the Eagles, <<<

You learn something new every day. I have never seen that word used before and who knows, maybe Sunday night we'll see a game that we never saw before in terms of blowout...
If some games are won before a team ever sets foot on the field, that could be and probably is the message/lesson that the 2007 new England Patriots are sending to the rest of the NFL.

I only pointed it out since the article seems to imply that that was the worst loss ever.

In any case, though, the "revenge" aspect (click the link) was just as operational in the GT game as the Houston game. :)

Always? I'll bet you have the stats to prove it.
