This is getting very hard with all the second day picks. Focus on getting younger on defense.

Latest guess at their picks. For the sake of consistency I used the Fox board, although I prefer NFL Draft Scout.

Based on the current Fox ratings, staying put at 24 and 28 blows. 16 and 47 would be much better.

24, 28, 91, 123, 165, 187

I'm going to assume that we have three comp picks, one at the end of the fourth, one at the end of the fifth, and one at the end of the sixth soo add

128, 160, and 192 to the above

510, 225

trade #28 and #123 to the colts for #32 and #95
trade #91 and #95 for #66

Why are you assuming only 3 comps? The Pats are assured 4 unless a couple of them get boosted.

...who are the four? I just pulled 3 out of nowhere...

From Pioli's talk on WEEI (plus previous posters work on this) it seems we expect 4,6,6,7 as our suplimentals.

I used three last time to make it more challenging and to hedge in case the league gets a wild Polian up you know where. Since we'll know for sure next week, it does no harm.

Any way we cam update all the exact picks after the comps are annouced so we can start over in a sense

Looks like it's updated again. So here's the latest shopping list:

1) Spencer's never played OLB and wasn't terrible effective in the Senior Bowl.
2) Ok.
3) I prefer Stewart Bradly or Zak DeOssie here.
4) Like him
5) Kid doesn't sound like a Pats type player
6-174) Don't see the need with Koppen, Hochstein, Yates and Barthelemes
6-196) Don't care for this pick
6-205) Why?
6-206) Good pick
7-250) Another good pick.

Ok I guess I'll give this a shot...

24: Dwayne Jarrett WR USC 6'4" 219 - If he's there why not take a shot GREAT possession WR

28: Michael Griffin S Texas 6'0" 202 - I've liked the looks of this guy for quite a while smart player and a ball hawking safety

91: Baraka Atkins DE/LB Miami 6'5" 271 - Great size and speed (4.69 40) a little high for a tweener/ project but so was Marquise Hill :D

123: Zak DeOssie ILB Brown 6'5" 250 - Local boy, knows football, SMART player

165: Courtney Brown CB/S Cal-Poly 6'2" 200 - BIG numbers at combine, a relative unknown, could be special???

187: David Patterson DT/DE Ohio St. 6'2" 285 - Smart and versatile

196: CJ Gaddis FS/CB Clemson 6'0" 203 - Extremely athletic corner who can play any position and can also return kicks (steal)

219: Selvin Young RB Texas 6'0" 215 - Speedy runner who can also catch and contribute to ST

UFA/Comp pick: Oscar Lua ILB USC 6'1" 240 - Good tackler, rangy LB good STer

Using the Fox rankings was a little difficult but if those are set in stone for this game I'd like to see the Pats end up with this draft adding a couple of late round OL with comp picks (maybe a TE too)

OK. Here is my draft based on what I would like to see based on the Pats getting comp picks in the 4th, 6th (x2) and 7th.

24: Anthony Spencer - OLB/DE
28: Chris Houston - CB
60: Brian Leonard - RB/FB
91: Stewart Bradley - OLB
123: John Wendling - FS
Comp: David Ball - WR
165: Allen Barbre - OT
187: John Talley - CB
Comp: Anthony Waters - ILB
Comp: Craig Dahl - SS
219: Dante Rosario - TE
Comp: Chris Davis - WR

I'm going to be honset. Like BOR and others, I am finding this draft to be weak with Top-End Talent. Much weaker than the 2005 draft was supposed to have been. As such, I think that the Pats will trade down from 28 to the middle of the second and pick up a 1st or 2nd next year.

Also, because I don't see the talent here in the draft at CB, FS, or SS, I think that the Pats WILL franchise Samuel and might even over-pay him a bit. I could see the Pats offering a 4yr/28 million with a 8 mill signing bonus or a 6yr/$44 million deal with an 11 mill signing bonus.

I think that this is a real "meat & potatoes" draft and that the bulk of the "value" will come from the 2-5 rounds.

Here is my update

Pats trade #24 for #38 and # 69.

#28 - Darelle Revis - CB
#38 - Brian Leonard - FB/RB
#69 - Stewart Bradly - ILB/OLB
#91 - Zak DeOssie - ILB/OLB
#123 - Sabby Piscatelli - SS
4th round comp - John Wendling - FS
#165 - Allan Barbre - OT
#187 - Usama Young - CB
6th round comp - Chris Davis - WR
6th round comp - Anthony Waters - ILB
7th round comp - Will Herring - FS

yummy!!!

one question - is Barbre the ninth OL on the 53? probably can't get him through to the practice squad.

6-206) Good pick
7-250) Another good pick.

3: I didn't see them going LB 3 picks in a row but I like Bradley and Zak too.

5: He graduated with honors and if not for injuries would have been a second round pick. Pat Hill likes him. He can probably add 10-15 pounds and be the between the tackles back of the future.

6-174: They are always looking to upgrade their talent on the line in the later rounds and they can always make a trade like they did with the Cardinals last year.

6-196: Why?

6-205: Because he played in Meyer's system, was a winner and a team leader, Cassel is a RFA and I can see them tagging him and somebody taking him so the Pats will be prepared and start to groom somebody else.

Barbre would be in a battle with Bubin, Britt, Kaczur and O'Callaghan for the starting RT spot and the 2 reserve spots.

Bubin still has eligibility left for the practice squad. O'Callaghan needs to show he's recovered from his injuries. Kaczur's proven he can be a swing tackle. Britt is still a question mark.

By the rules of the game you couldn't take players above their ranking or I would have snagged Revis too.
