Seems like we need one more at RB. If Faulk comes back maybe BB stands pat.

Anyone out there you see a good fit?
    thanks

We can use a reliable goal line RB. I don't want to rely on Ridley yet (on the goal line). IDK. maybe Ridley will be fine. Maybe Larsen or Kettani or some combination but not Faulk. Other than the goal line we should have enough RBs.

I think they need another heavy duty RB to give Ridley a breather or as insurance just in case he gets dinged or gets a case of fumblitis. Woodhead can't carry the load and not sure yet about Vereen staying healthy. Hate to have a FB having to do much more than GL runs or blocking.

One thing this team doesn't do often is thrust a new guy onto the field and just let him develop.

Running backs are usually better able to handle it than most. What better way to let an RB develop than let him play?

We shield the rookies far too much I think. It's worth a few mistakes on the field in a won game.

I could see them going with what they have: Ridley, Vereen, Woodhead, Kettani/camp winner and then solving it during the season if they really get desperate. With all the emerging upside players I don't really want to waste a roster spot on a JAG who we can likely pick up later.

No offense to Faulk who I love but unless he is 100% of what he was i feel like his niche role evaporates and he becomes kind of expendable.

The Pats are likely to keep 5 RBs like they did before. Right now we have 3 RB's and 3 FB's. plus camp fodder. It all depends how the team wants the make up of their RB. If for some reason he keeps 2 FB's (which considering past history is unlikely), I don't see us adding another RB. Vareen was drafted to be a 3 down RB in the 2nd. Ridley has proven he is much more than the SY/GLl RB many thought he was when he was drafted. So, add Woody and a couple of FB's and I'd be fine with it.

Most likely we'll keep one of the FB's and sign a veteran RB as we get closer to June, and keep Faulk on speed dial in case of massive injuries.

I liked kettani when i saw him play..... he's a big dude... kind of reminds me of Kuhn of the packers. I would be happy with him running it in for those extra 1 or 2 yards for the first or in goal line situations.... besides him, I'd like Ridley to become the #1 RB for this team. His fumbles really pissed me off last year but overall he can be a really great asset in the running game.

I really don't know what Belicheck was doing this off season.............we really needed Adrian Peterson and Matt Forte as a 3rd down back

    wasted opportunities......

Faulk did say he wanted to remain a patriot and didn't sound like he wanted to retire... I say keep the Vet thats been here to keep aiding the sophmore Rb's and to be their 3rd back which will be shared with woodhead..... one other thing since im talking about woody... any one else think that we really under-used him last year?

When we first got him it seemed like he was always kicking ass...

97 rushes in 2010, compared to 77 rushes last year. Out of 19 games, that only comes down to about one less carry per game.

I think that he was banged up in the middle of the year at some point, possibly with a concussion IIRC. His production and skillset seemed to drop off to some degree during that time. I don't think he was nearly as effective until the last 6 games or so, so I'd take that aspect into account.

I agree with you here. I think that a vet close to the likes of some of the names we saw last week may be in the mix.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Grant. He's got some big game experience, and offers the ability to start in case of injury + a vet presence.

BB may not chose from the 3 guys last week, but I do think the last RB will be a guy along those lines.

I am not sure this will be answered until camp cuts come around and we can pick off anyone else's roster cuts at RB.
