Realistically, I think you're right that week 1 is unlikely. I do think as the season progresses he will emerge. They kids is a special talent. If he hadn't been a snub for the all star games and combine I think he would have went in the top 3 rounds. I do not see much difference between what he did on the field and in terms of athletic ability between him and Byron Jones.I seriously doubt it. A rookie being a starter week 1 on a Belichick team is rare especially for a seventh round draft pick. Even first round picks like Vince Wilfork and Richard Seymour got limited playing time early in their rookie season.
Could Roberts emerge over the course of the season? Sure. But I really doubt he will be a day one starter. I am leaning to him not even being active week 1 even if by week 17 he is the Pats #1 CB.
If there are Football Gods, then Roger Goodell should expect to experience a very special kind of Hell.I have a good feeling about this kid. He will be the player sent by the football gods to make up for the Revis tampering and deflategate BS.
The Bobby Grier stopwatch method of predicting greatness ...
Seriously ... I hope he's the #3 CB by seasons end ... that would be great for now.
Ras-I Dowling started week 1 his rookie year even though he missed most of the preseason with an injury.Even if he is a hall of famer will need time to learn the playbook and the system.
