The so called analysts kept asking if the Giants would try to play to win the game.
Not one asked if the Patriots would play to win the game. They just automatically assumed that the Patriots would go all out for the sixteenth victory. But that was not the case, necessarily. What a bunch of clods. They should have done so, and asked the question.
It is apparent to me, that Bill Belichick has not lost sight of the ultimate prize.
Any Patriots player who had as much as a hangnail, was ruled out of the game, by the Belichick coaching staff. Those players were given a rest to rehab and be ready for the playoffs.
So Belichick was willing to lose a "meaningless" game; and coached with his with head, not his heart.
He then tried to win with a reduced squad, with half the Offensive line not playing against the best "sacking" team in the league. He did this so that his team would be better positioned for the coming Tournament.
It makes the Victory all the sweeter.
