Backup QBs - Hoyer VS Mallet

According to the latest Patriots All Access, Mallett, being a rookie, was forced to buy a huge amount of Garrett gourmet popcorn for the offensive coaches. The stuff costs about 50 dollars a gallon.

Now, does this mean he's moving up the depth chart, or he's on the bubble? ;) :p

I read the last 6 pages of this topic and found it to be a great discussion.

No one here is claiming that Mallet isn't a pro football prospect, he would have been a great addition to any team, he could have been a starter somewhere in this league. So why not NE?

If the Jets picked up Mallet, would Sanchez even be a starter? It would have been a low risk, high reward pick for any team, given that Mallet slipped to the 3d round.

Just to bring that into the light, Marcus Cannon slipped to the 5th. How did that work out?

Mallet has the capacity to compete for a starting job on any team, even in NE. BB had no choice but to take Mallet. BB made the same choice when he carried Brady on the team, when NE already had 3 QBs. Mallet could be that guy if he wants it, its the same thing BB said about Brady, but Mallet was a better QB coming out of school.

The fact that Mallet has taken the time to perfect his throwing motion, says he wants to be the best. Mallet has watched the Brady 6, he knows what its going to take to win the starting job here in NE.

Mallet also knows that the starting job is his to take if he earns it, thats BBs way and BB wants Mallet to take the job from Brady. Its how you put the best player on the field, and bring home the titles.

I am excited to have Mallet here in NE. One way or another he will impact this team. IF we can take a 3rd rounder and make him a 1st round trade, that great. If he takes Hoyer's job thats even better. If Brady goes down and Mallet wins NE a SB, fantastic.

To date, has Mallett brought anything to the table except Garrett gourmet popcorn?

If Mallett is going to be Brady's successor, he needs to start banging on the door next pre-season
