Waters was supposed to have worked out on Tuesday, though there were rumors floating around he'd have to postpone again. This was a highly anticipated workout because Waters was considered a potential 1st round pick before he tore his knee up in the 1st game of the 2006 season.

Duee to injury, Waters was unable to attend the Combine or work out at Clemson's Pro Day on March 13. Although still not 100 percent, he had a personal workout at Clemson on April 3, running outdoors on FieldTurf. Twenty NFL teams were represented. Waters (238 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.69. He also had a 34½-inch vertical jump. He didn't so the long jump or any other sprints but did well in position drills.

pretty good #s considering how much time hes missed

4.6-4.7/40 is good, his weight is too light for my profile, I wish we had a current height to get a better feel for his potential to carry additional weight. Too bad the knee isn't ready for change of direction testing, I find those better than the 40 when assessing a candidate.

Waters is 6'2 5/8" tall. If he weighed in at 239, then he's lost 6 lbs since the combine.

Waters did attend the combine and was measured and weighed, though he did not partake in any drills other than the bench press.

I can carry additional weight, just not all of it is muscle. That said, 6'2 1/2" is likely a better frame to pack the muscle on, particularly for a guy who is coming off a rehab regimen where extra weight would be a negative.

Under the circumstances, those look like good numbers all around. Waters' strengths seem like a good fit -- strong with his hands, sheds blockers, nose for the ball in traffic. If the team emerges from the opening rounds without an ILB, he'd be an attractive target.

As I said above he was 6'2.5" and weighed 245lbs at the combine.
    He also did 25 reps

    Here's one source

NFL.com has him listed at 6'3" and 245lbs. Here's what they list for agility test:

    "Campus: 4.62 in the 40-yard dash … 450-pound bench press … Benched 225 pounds 20 times … 490-pound squat … 365-pound power clean … 375-pound hang clean … 35Y-inch vertical jump … 9-foot-7 broad jump … 33-inch arm length … 9 5/8-inch hands … Right-handed.

Combine: Benched 225 pounds 25 times … Did not participate in agility drills due to recovery from knee injury."

I think he has perfect size, especially when you consider his arms are pretty long (33in.)

What exactly was his injury? Did he just tear an ACL or did he tear other ligaments too?

If his knee checks out, I think this makes him one of six ILB candidates for the Patriots.

They have to get a young ILB - someone who can contribute this year and can start in a year or two.

Bruschi could well be in his final season. The odds of Bruschi and Vrabel both starting 16+ games are tiny. The Patriots need a young ILB. And they have to draft one this year.

The guys I see fitting the Patriots ILB system:

    Patrick Willis
    David Harris
    Jon Beason
    Paul Posluszny
    Brandon Siler
    Anthony Waters

Let's hope one of those is drafted in three weeks.

I'd add Desmond Bishop to the list.

I like him but I don't see him as an ILB. I see him as the next Mike Vrabel (hopefully) and I think most would agree he is at his best at OLB.

I also view him as an OLB but I don't know tons about him so maybe I'm wrong.

    Cousins,
Just curious and I admit I do not know much in this world. Why is Waters on your lists? All information on him describes him as a below average tackler. He's not a good blitzer. He is below average in coverage.
Patchick has information contrary to everything I have read on this kid. No offense. Where is the link that says he is a guy that fits with us? I suppose you could be good with your hands and shed blockers and still be weak as a tackler, I guess?

I am in agreement on DeOssie and Bishop.

He's an OLB, but he could potentially be a good ILB.

I found a ton of highlight videos on SI.com and a lot for players you can't find video of elsewhere.
